"You have to build a shelter before it gets dark and monsters come out. There are Spiders, and Skeletons, and Zombies. You can make your house however you want, and where ever you want. You can add doors and windows, and add stuff inside like beds."

That's what I heard as I stood next to my dad's office door, out of sight. I couldn't see what he was talking about, but I knew he was talking to my little brother about a game.

"Right click to set the block down, like this. See? And then hold the left button to break it. Here, why don't we build your first shelter out of dirt."

'Dirt?' I thought. 'Why would you want to build a house of dirt?' I really wanted to peek, but I knew my dad might see me. If he saw me, he might think I needed something, and stop talking about this interesting game to help me.

"Now we need a door. Chop down some wood, and make planks with your crafting table. Like this. Now use the planks and make a door. Place it in the entrance. It's getting dark, and we haven't made a bed. That's OK, we'll just need to make sure no monsters kill you."

By then I was utterly confused. What was a crafting table? You used it to make doors? I needed to see what they were talking about. I took a deep breathe and walked in. My dad asked what I needed, and I replied saying I was just looking at what they were doing.

As I watched, things became more clear. I learned the controls by watching my dad show my brother, and I learned a thing a two, like, don't go near the "cute, green creature with no arms". I learned what all the monsters looked like, and that you could make swords out of wood to kill them so they wouldn't kill you. Luckily, my brother hadn't discovered everything before it was my turn to try.

And then my journey began. I made a new world and spawned in a forest. The controls were a bit tricky at first, but I eventually got the hang of it. Then I was off. At first I didn't want to kill the animals cause they were cute. Another lesson I learned: Just because they're cute doesn't mean you don't need the food. In other words I died because I was very persistent in not killing the cute animals. After that I killed every animal in sight. My first shelter was made of planks cause I still didn't believe in having a shelter made of dirt.

I still didn't have a bed, so I set off to find some sheep. The sun was setting when I finally found some sheep. I killed them off and started heading home when I realized it was night. I freaked. I heard a zombie and the rattling of a skeleton. Luckily I had my trusty, almost broken, wooden sword with me.... You probably guessed. I didn't make it home that night. First a spider attacked me, then a zombie joined in and finally the Creeper, ending it all.

My first day in Minecraft was interesting and I had fun. I definitely would be playing again and again.

So to this day I play Minecraft as often as I can. When I found PMC I was super excited cause I found a community of people that loved Minecraft as much as I did. I meant many nice people, who have helped me along my Minecraft journey, and who have just been great friends.

One way Minecraft has really helped me, is by being able to play with my best friend who lives over 1,000 miles away. We both have a passion for building amazing things, and creating fun skins. We found yet another thing we both love, and it was a fun way to do something together rather than just talking over the phone.

I am a Minecrafter because I have a love for Minecraft, and I have a story. Everyone who enjoys Minecraft has a story that they love to tell. You now know my story, so what's yours?

My best friend
Thanks for being there when no one else was, even if it was through Minecraft :) You've never failed to cheer me up or make me smile. You make me laugh a lot more, and cry a lot less. In fact, when I get to see you, there's no way I can cry.
You'll always be my B.F.S.S.F.L.

Thank you for reading, and I hope my very first blog hasn't bored you to death!
Good luck to all the contestants!
Diamond if you liked it!
