y dont sponges work?

i see vids of sponges working and stuff but y dont mine work

all i can use them for is their look, which isnt amasing
i use 1.0.0 with modloader, tmi and riugsami's spawner gui mods
does any of those stop sponges from working?

im not sure if their even legit ingame coz their only in the creative inv.

the coding for them still exists but the water change after classic made the code pointless

Sponges were removed from the game NATURALLY and so was its properties. The only way to get working sponges is to spawn it in multiplayer. If you use mods to get it, it'll just be a useless block.
