Arboria is a world generation datapack that improves most vanilla overworld biomes. The datapack's goal is to aesthetically overhaul the world without changing the progression too much.

This datapack is made for Minecraft Java 26.1+.
For older versions visit the Modrinth page.

    FEATURES

    Arboria adds:
    • Better looking trees
    • Lakes and ponds in most biomes
    • Occasional boulders and rocks
    • More ground variation (example: coarse dirt mixed with grass)
    • Tiny islands in oceans
    • Many biome-specific features
    The datapack doesn't change:
    • Tree type distribution (example: acacia trees only generate in savanna biomes)
    • Flower and plant distribution (example: blue orchids can only grow in swamps)
    • Biome layout and structure generation
    • Terrain shape (mountains aren't higher or lower)
    • Animal and hostile mob spawns
    • Biome grass color, water color and sky color

In general, blocks that generate in a biome are blocks you could obtain by only playing in that biome (example: coarse dirt can be crafted from dirt and gravel). The only exceptions to this rule are rooted dirt and moss carpet.

    COMPATIBILITY

Arboria is made for Minecraft Java 26.1. For 1.19-1.21.11 versions visit the modrinth page (old versions).

The datapack will work on any vanilla server and should work on most modded servers (fabric, spigot, paper, etc.), but I cannot guarantee that. It doesn't work on realms.

Arboria is not compatible with any datapack that modifies overworld surface biomes. It is compatible with datapacks that change nether, end or cave biomes.

Arboria works with datapacks that add new biomes in addition to vanilla biomes, such as Terralith and William Wythers' Overhauled Overworld. Just make sure Arboria has a higher load priority (put it above Terralith/WWOO when adding datapacks to your world).
Note that the biomes were not designed to be used with other worldgen datapacks and may look out of place with surrounding biomes.

hello buddy, loved your datapack. But i noticed something, even you saying that this "dont change the animals/mobs spawn" i needed to search and explore 7-8 plains and 3-6 savanna biomes to find my first horse, it took about 3 hours🥲. Now i need to bring them for like 3000 blocks to my home lol

I'm creating a Bedrock add-on for Minecraft with biomes and looking for inspiration. I found your data pack. I really liked it and would like to know if there's a world with all the trees organized that I could use as a base to create the Bedrock add-on for Minecraft, as a port of your data pack to Bedrock.

I only found this datapack a week ago but I am IN LOVE with it!! Everything fits so perfectly and it really feels like a Minecraft 2. I had a question - I wanna add this datapack to a modpack that changes the flower forest, but I love BOTH versions of the flower forest, the one from Arboria, and this other one... is there a way I can modify the datapack so that both variations of it can spawn? Like it's a 50/50 chance when a flower forest generates it will either be from Arboria or this other mod? Thanks so much

There is a way to generate 2 versions of flower forest but unfortunately it's not easy. You would have to implement one of the versions as a new biome and then modify biome placement so that it could generate that biome.

There may be a way... if Arboria was packaged as a mod, I could probably use Biolith to modify its placement rules alongside the other mods I've already configured... well, time to jump into a research rabbit hole on how to do that. Boy do I love minecraft modding

It's possible to do it without mods.
First of all rename one of the biome files in data/minecraft/worldgen/biomes to flower_forest2.json (or any name that is not an existing biome).
In vanilla overworld biome source there are 80 entries for flower_forest. All you need to do is replace 40 of those entries with flower_forest2. You will also need to get the overworld biome source from somewhere.
