Better Trees is a worldgen datapack/mod that completely redesigns overworld trees.
    • All trees are now bigger, taller, and more complex, completely transforming the overworld.
    • BT trees are still vanilla style and do not use blocks like stairs or fences.
    • Cutting down trees will give you more wood and saplings.

Due to the trees increased size, I recommend a tree cutting mod, such as Timber datapack or FallingTree.

    17 Update Logs

    2.0.0 : by EMD123 10/08/2026 12:06:43 pmOctober 8 @ 4:06 pm UTC

    2.0.0

The first major update to Better Trees!
    • Removed support for 26.2 and below
    • Updated to 26.3
    • Added poplar trees
    • Updated birch trees
    • Updated spruce trees
    • Updated pine trees
    • Updated jungle trees
    • Updated jungle bush
    • Updated azalea trees
    • Updated cherry trees
    • Updated swamp oak trees
    • Removed unused oak_bees_0002
    • Updated functions
    • Updated the file structure for the trees to better match the modern structure (some of them were still using the file structure for 1.17!)

    Compatibility

2.0.0 also comes with changes that allow for better compatibility with other projects
    • Tree features are now in the Better Trees namespace
      • This means that other projects can't delete Better Trees's trees accidently. (they can still break the spawning accidently though)
    • Added detector block tag
      • Contains oak_log
      • Use this tag in a random block placer:
      • If BT is installed, it will place an oak log.
      • If BT is not installed, it will fail and place nothing. (you will have to define a blank tag in your own project)
      • Use this to create trees that change if better trees is installed.
    • Added placed features for all trees
      • Can be added to a tag as non-required, and then be used to reference BT trees even if BT is not installed.
    • Added detector placed feature
      • Reference this in your project to force prevent your project from running without BT.

Cuando quite el mod este, los arboles quedaron grande y no los puedo devolver a la normalidad en mi mundo hardcore. Los arboles quedaron grandes, ¿Puedes decirme como solucionar ese problema?

Hey there, love this mod! I've been using it over on Modrinth. I was wondering if there is sapling support for the saplings to grow matching sized trees, as well? That would be a great feature, I keep getting small trees from my saplings.

Love this mod, was working great in 1.21.8 but it doesn't seem to work correctly in 1.12.10. Some big trees only generate from saplings and not with worldgen/chunkgen. Some big trees don't generate at all, only vanilla trees.

It wasn't compatible with 1.21.9+, so you shouldn't've been using it in that version...
But it is updated now. Version 1.9.2 is compatible with Minecraft 1.21.9+.

Can you please make this also apply to warped & crimson trees in the nether?

The nether trees are technically considered fungi, and Better Trees typically only does overworld trees. Nether fungi are also a lot more restricted when it comes to customization via data pack.

If I ever do make them, they would be in an add-on data pack called "Better Fungi"
