This datapack allows you to compress the contents of a chest so that you can loot it much faster. This works with most block containers except for shulker boxes.

To compress the contents of a container, open the container and click the blue "Compress contents" button. The activation can be changed by looking up and crouching, you will get a list of options. Open chat and click the desired option.
In 1.19.4, there is also an option to sort alphabetically.
Installation (and troubleshooting for when it does not work.)
The datapack is called "Sort" (Capital S, not a zip) and should be in the already existing datapacks folder in your world's folder. If you are creating a new world, click datapacks and open folder, then paste. Then enable it.
"I can only upload a zip"
If you can only upload a zip, open the zip, open the folder inside, copy the file and folder and paste them into a zip, then upload that zip. If you can upload the zip then extract it, that works too.


If it does not work, it may be because you pasted the zip.

Alphabetical sorting now considers all letters. (But not the absence of letters)

I encountered a small issue where some chests didn't have the compress content button even when they had extra slots. But other than that, it works great!

Do "/datapack list" and it should appear there. If it doesn't, open the datapacks folder and make sure the datapack is a folder and not a zip.

im using the Sort folder not the sort folder and nothing pops up i did /datapack list nothing happens , i did datapack list available and nothing happens

It wont show if the container is full. If you sneak and look directly up (as high as you can go) it should give you options, if not, make sure it is installed properly.

history
You probably put the zip in the datapacks folder. Put the folder inside the sip in the datapacks folder.
