This datapack was inspired by TEGG from Hermitcraft season 8. The way it works is very similar:
When you place the dragon egg hidden somewhere in your base, a message will tell the other players who hid it, and they can start searching your base. Until the egg is found/picked up by another player, you will earn 1 point each second for every other player online. The first player to reach a chosen score (or the player with most points after a chosen amount of time) wins the game!
To show the current scores of all players, run the command '/trigger eggHunt.displayScore'. No admin privileges are needed. To remove the sidebar scores again, run '/trigger eggHunt.clearSidebar'.
Recommended additional rules:
The specific rules you choose can vary after your own taste, but this is how I have played the game.
- The egg has to be placed somewhere accessible for everyone without placing or destroying blocks
- Use of buttons/piston doors/parkour/puzzles etc. is allowed, as long as the first rule holds
- Searching for the egg must be done without destroying blocks (unless necessary to break the egg)
- The first player to 20.000 points wins! (for larger servers, maybe increase this goal)
Options for improvements:
Since the game cannot find players that are offline, by default the score will only increase if the egg-keeper is online. There is an option to fix this, but it requires you to manually write down the usernames of every player participating:

- Download the .zip file and place it inside the datapacks folder in your world save.

- Locate 'data/egg_hunt/functions/options' inside the .zip datapack file and open it with a text editor (Notepad e.g)
- Put a '#' in front of the line below OPTION 1, to disable the default
- Remove '#' from the code below OPTION 2, to enable the improvement
