Higher Enchants allows the player to increase the maximum level of enchantments. This makes Unbreaking X and much more achievable in survival.
To get higher enchants, you need a celestial enchanter which requires a 3x3 multiblock and a lightning strike. Follow the steps for constructing the multiblock in the image gallery above. Remember to make sure the bookshelves are facing north! The multiblock calls for the following block amounts:
The Celestial Enchanter costs lapis and end crystals to use, as well as using an enchanted book as a focus. For every enchantment you would like to level up, it will cost a base of one end crystal. Then depending on what level you want to increase the enchantment to, the amount of lapis will change:
Once all the costs are done, you choose the item you want to upgrade and throw it on top of the Celestial Enchanter. This item will become targeted, and if all goes well, you should see particles and the selected enchantment level will increase by 1.
That was all fairly confusing, so I'll walk through an example. Say you have a golden sword with sharpness 5 and want to increase it to sharpness 6. First, we will throw the golden sword on top of the Celestial Enchanter. Its item display will now change to the golden sword, showing that that item is the targeted item. Next, we will throw 1 stack of lapis and 1 end crystal on top of the Celestial Enchanter. They will be consumed and the display should update the next fuel storage. Lastly, I will take a sharpness 5 book and place it into the glow item frame. Particles erupt! I can now throw any piece of glass onto the Celestial Enchanter (will elaborate on this later) and it will drop my new golden sword with sharpness 6.
Celestial Enchanter Destroying and Moving
To destroy the Celestial Enchanter, simply drop a piece of TNT on top of it. Then, the celestial enchanter will drop all its stored fuel, its target item, and a spawn egg for the Celestial Enchanter. This spawn egg can then be used anywhere in the world and a celestial enchanter will appear in that position. This is to avoid having the player recreate the multiblock every time they want to move it. And to reiterate, you will not lose any items that are stored in the Celestial Enchanter on destruction (item, lapis, or end crystal)!
Here's some extra info on the Celestial Enchanter. First, any item can be enchanted! And any enchantment can be placed on an item! This can create sharpness and smite swords, pumpkin pies with knockback, and concrete that has every enchantment in the game. However, there is one exception, and that is any form of glass or glass pane. Since the only way to get your target item back from the Celestial Enchanter is to give it another item, glass serves the role of a blank. Even if the Celestial Enchanter has all the requirements needed to enchant, if the target item is a type of glass, no enchantment will occur.
Another neat trick is that you can enchant unenchanted items. Instead of trying to gamble with the enchanting table, you can place your freshly minted netherite sword into the Celestial Enchanter and pay lots of lapis and end crystals to level it from sharpness 0 to sharpness 5. It's up to you to decide if it is worth the price (Sharpness 0 to Sharpness 5 is 5 end crystals and 5 stacks of lapis).
Lastly, due to how the Celestial Enchanter works, your target item will not lose any data. If it has a name, that name will stay. If it has other enchantments, those will stay as well.
Version 2.0 is a grand departure from the previous version. It is a more efficient, simpler, and more powerful improvement on the previous Higher Enchants. Forget what you knew because it has been entirely changed.
Celestial Enchanter
To get higher enchants, you need a celestial enchanter which requires a 3x3 multiblock and a lightning strike. Follow the steps for constructing the multiblock in the image gallery above. Remember to make sure the bookshelves are facing north! The multiblock calls for the following block amounts:
- 8 Obsidian
- 1 Beacon
- 2 Bookshelves

- 6 Anvils
- 1 Enchanting Table

Using the Celestial Enchanter
The Celestial Enchanter costs lapis and end crystals to use, as well as using an enchanted book as a focus. For every enchantment you would like to level up, it will cost a base of one end crystal. Then depending on what level you want to increase the enchantment to, the amount of lapis will change:
- For enchanting to level 1-6, it costs 64 lapis (per level)
- For enchanting to level 7, it costs 128 lapis
- For enchanting to level 8, it costs 192 lapis
- For enchanting to level 9, it costs 256 lapis
- For enchanting to level 10, it coss 320 lapis
Once all the costs are done, you choose the item you want to upgrade and throw it on top of the Celestial Enchanter. This item will become targeted, and if all goes well, you should see particles and the selected enchantment level will increase by 1.
