Improved Potions is a datapack that changes the game's potion brewing system and also brings a lot of new ideas to this mechanic. All potions are now made in a cauldron instead of a potion maker. Now it cannot be found in villages or crafted. Priests can still spawn, but with a cauldron in place of the potion maker.

To start brewing potions, you need to place a block of magma or smoldering earth under the cauldron. Then pour water into the cauldron and throw in the gunpowder wart. You will have to wait a while for the cauldron to boil and you can start brewing potions in it. All the ingredients for the vanilla potions were transferred to the cauldron. By throwing the desired ingredient into the cauldron and right-clicking on the cauldron while holding one of the types of bubbles in your hands, you will receive the desired potion. You can use up to 3 ingredients in the cauldron, but if you overdo it, it will explode.

Small cauldron
By crafting a small cauldron at the workbench, you can create a key ingredient for creating potions - a gunpowder wart. It can also be used to craft several new ingredients for the cauldron. Using them you get special potions, but you cannot combine them with other effects (ingredients). Using redstone and gunpowder, you can get redstone powder. If you throw it in front of the ingredient into the cauldron, the effect you choose will be of the second level. If you do the same actions using redstone, then the effect of the potion will be increased.

Better Cauldron
Using it you can brew potions faster. It begins to boil much faster and is slightly different in appearance from usual.

Smoldering Dirt
This is a cheaper substitute for magma in the early stages of the game. To start using it, you must first set it on fire and only then place the cauldron on it.

Bottles
Now all 3 types of bottles can be crafted on the workbench and depending on the bottle you choose, potions will be obtained after its preparation (settling, explosive and normal).

Book of Potions
Now all crafts, ingredients, as well as information are written out and supplemented with pictures in the book of potions. You can get it by killing a witch or buying it from a priest in the village.
