Soups and stews in Minecraft have always been somewhat useless food items. They're unstackable and don't give very much hunger to make it worth crafting them. On top of that, you're very limited in the types of stews you can make and the ingredients you can use. I've changed the way stews work by increasing your culinary capabilities and also allowing you to eat from them multiple times.

1. Mushroom Stew Changes

Mushroom Stew receives a big change in that you don't have to use two different mushrooms in order to craft it. You can use two of the same mushroom if you'd like, although two of any mushroom will do the trick. This also includes the Crimson and Warped Fungi.

On top of that, you'll notice the Mushroom Stew now gives you two sips from it before emptying the bowl. This allows you to restore 6 hunger points from one bowl of Mushroom Stew.

2. Introducing - Veggie Soup

Veggie Soup is a new item that replaces Beetroot Soup. Instead of only being allowed to use Beetroot, you can now use 6 of ANY veggie item in any combination. Here is a list of the valid veggie items you can use:

Carrot
Potato
Baked Potato
Beetroot
Dried Kelp

Just like the Mushroom Stew, the Veggie Soup allows for multiple sips. You can eat from the Veggie Soup 3 times; restoring a total of 9 hunger points.

3. Nice to MEAT you!

Tired of only being able to use rabbit in your stew? Well with Meaty Stew, you can now use whichever meat you want! Want some beef stew? Go right ahead! Chicken more your style? Be my guest! Fish tickle your fancy? With this datapack, you can make any type of Meaty Stew you want!

To make a bowl Meaty Stew, you need whatever type of cooked meat you want, 3 veggies, ANY type of mushroom, and a single piece of Wheat. The wheat is used to give the stew a nice hearty broth so you'll be as satiated as ever.

You can eat from a single bowl of Meaty Stew 5 times before it runs out. With each sip restoring 5 hunger bars, that's a total of 25 hunger bars from one bowl of stew! Take a couple of bowls of Meaty Stew with you when you go adventuring to keep your hunger bar full for the entire trip. What's more, when the bowl runs out, you can take any mushrooms you find while foraging for a nice Mushroom Stew pick-me-up.

Note: This datapack does NOT change the functionality of Suspicious Stew, those stews still only give you one sip along with their designated potion effect.

Hi, I installed this on my 1.20.4 server and I'm having a couple issues. The recipes do work, and I can get the correct soups. However, they don't stack and don't allow for multiple uses. Is there anything I can do to correct this?

Okay so I just looked into it and it's because your scoreboards weren't initialized. This wasn't a problem whenever I made the datapack in the first place (at least it wasn't whenever I did my final testing) but as the game is now the scoreboards need to be initialized in order to work properly.

In order to fix it without having to redownload anything, just set all of your scoreboard values to 0 and the datapack should function properly. (type '/scoreboard objectives list' to see a list of all scoreboard values) I will add a few commands to the initialization function so that it shouldn't be a problem for anyone who downloads it going forward.

I apologize for the datapack not working properly.

You can also go into the pack.mcmeta to update the datapack/resource pack versions so they don't show up red in the menu, however it's not necessary.

Thanks for the quick response! I set the "veggieEat", "meatEat", "mushroomEat" and "soupLeft" scores to 0 and the soups now have three charges to them! However, I still can't get them to stack. Did I miss something?

Well the stacking is done via commands because soups can’t be stacked in game. (aka the items don’t stack to show remaining uses due to limitations) Once you eat the soup once, one of the charges should go down and change the item name to [2/3]. (for the Veggie Soup)
