No delay between hits anymore, just like 1.8!

You can still use the offhand, shields, crossbows, etc… and any other mechanic after 1.8

Multiplayer Compatible!


Axes:


Axes have been nerfed back to their original 1.8 damage (with the exception of netherite axe obviously):
  • Wooden Axe: 3
  • Golden Axe: 3
  • Stone Axe: 4
  • Iron Axe: 5
  • Diamond Axe: 6
  • Netherite Axe: 7

Blocking


You can now block with any sword, just like 1.8!

Blocking reduces any attack damage towards the player by 40% and reduces the knock-back in half

Enabling/disabling the mechanic with a simple command!


Do NOT use /datapack disable without first disabling the 1.8 mechanic!



Enable (is on by default)

/function instant_pvp:enable


Disable

/function instant_pvp:disable


Switching between the two will automatically:
  • Change the attack speed of players
  • Enable/Disable the blocking ability of swords
  • Change the damage dealt by axes.

  • Added blocking mechanism to swords, similar to 1.8 mechanics (temporarily reduces knockback effect and damage dealt to the player)
  • Added a simple switch mode from 1.8 to 1.9+ pvp
  • Added a debug mode that displays a message of the actual damage of any weapon
  • Things are made simpler to change damage values (under the hood technical change)

couldn't you do most of this with recipes now? (like the attack speed and damage changes, and when 1.21.5 releases, even blocking)

Yes but it would be tool based not player based. That means loot from chests will also have to be changed, and changing every tool in all loot chests would take much longer. Already thought about it

I removed the file of my world and I still having the 1.8 pvp. How can I have the 1.9 pvp again?
