When entering an abandoned village you feel a cold presence behind your shoulder and hear things being knocked over - you are not alone.
Is this poltergeist ill-willed or does it just want to play since it's been lonely for such a long time?
The pack requires minecraft java version 1.20.2 or newer!
Minecraft abandoned zombie villages always felt very empty but not anymore with this data pack!
You will find a shrine in the town center of all zombie villages, that can be used to commune with the local poltergeist.
The poltergeist is only active in the night, where it will randomly make scary sounds, shuffle your chests or other mischief.
If you place an item in the glowing item frame at the center point of the village's shrine, the poltergeist will react to that item.
- If it doesn't care about the item you offered it, it will just throw it out of the item frame.
- If it likes the item, it will take it and remember that you did something nice. It might also give you some of it's belongings in return.
- If it doesn't like the item, it will still take it and remembers that you gave it a bad item. It might also add something it doesn't want anymore to your chests.
The poltergeist will only interface with chests and barrels placed by the player in a 50 block radius around the shrine!
If you want to try out the pack but can't find an abandoned village, you can use the following seed, where you spawn directly next to one:
-1518022259804054032
You can also just summon a poltergeist and a shrine using the following command:
/function pspg:entity/summon
To for a specific haunt to happen, you can use one of the following commands:
The poltergeist will react to the following items:
If you only want to give yourself all the loot, you can use the loot command:
/loot give @s loot pspg:loot_table/*
(where * is any of the ones that show up, just select the one you are interested in using TAB)

I'm sorry if the description doesn’t suffice for you to understand the pack, I'll try to make it simple and quick:
In every zombie village (a very rare vanilla Minecraft structure) there will be an item frame. If you put items into the item frame, something might happen, like loot being randomly put into some of your chests. What items get "consumed" is written in the main description.
Also things like chests being moved, mobs getting thrown around and other weird stuff will happen in these villages at night.
Hope this helps you grasp what the pack does! :)
After some time of communing with the ghost, it may become uninterested in your item, then you can commune with them again the next night.
How much you can interact with the ghost per night relates to how much it likes you.
However, I feel as if it could be buffed somewhat. Something should happen if it's happy or angry with you.
It could nerf nearby enemies, and possibly appear visually as a happy sprite sometimes if happy.
And it could buff those nearby enemies & appear in a spooky jumpscare way if angry.
I made the whole pack within about 3-4 afternoons to get it finished for the jam, so I didn’t have much time to flesh it out. I may revisit it but I'm not sure since I have bigger projects in the work that have my attention ^^
