Global warming is not a myth! This is what spring will look like if we keep up polluting like we are. This was originally designed as part of the datapack for my project, but since there were a number of people asking about it I pulled it out and made it into its own datapack. Now you can overheat your world too!
This datapack is made to make the minecraft sun EVEN HOTTER! Now it will burn you to go out in the sun much like it burns skeletons. Make sure to apply your sunscreen, because the weather today is HOT!
Features:
I am still working on the following:
If anyone sees issues or has ideas to fix some of the issues, please let me know. I will keep working on it and post updates. This should also work on multiplayer worlds as well as 1.16, but if it has not been tested there and if it does not please let me know!
Project this was developed for: https://www.planetminecraft.com/project/blasted-landscape/
Discord channel for the project I'm working on (where this datapack came from): https://discord.gg/ygQabgk
Note: One thing I did notice is that the waterseekers do not seem to start their work if added to a world (there seems to be a bug with MC init when adding a datapack to an existing world). After adding the datapack and logging in, /reload and from then on it should work fine.

Features:
- Players and mobs will burn in direct sunlight.
- Water will evaporate in direct sunlight.
- Ice/snow will also evaporate in direct sunlight.
- Grass and farmland will wither and die (turning into coarse dirt) in direct sunlight. Since grass paths already look and act dead, those remain fine.
- Saplings/crops/flowers will all pop off the block and fail to grow in direct sunlight.
- Now nighttime with all its monsters will be the SAFEST time for you!
- Minor modifications to the init file (sunburn/data/sunburn/functions/init.mcfunction) allows for this to work with more players (on a server for example) as well as disabling weather (rain/storms). Comments in the init file on what/how to modify this to your liking.
- Add the "sunscreen" tag to a mob or player to allow them to ignore the burning effect.
I am still working on the following:
- Needs tested in larger scale server environment. The burning should work fine, but the waterseekers might get overworked with too many players.
- Might add something so leaves/trees burn in daylight too if anyone is interested.

A simple fix for this problem could be to detect specific blocks/blockstates which emit light level 15 and disable the entity burning in this case.
