Up for an extra challenge? Well get ready for the latest datapack from System Plasma, Climate! This datapack adds status effects to certain biomes and areas of the game to make it a bit more challenging to navigate.
Also if you have SPLootTables enabled you may find more loot in, Igloo, End City and Bastion Treasure chests, if you can keep your heat in check.
"Sheer Cold" effect can be found in Snowy and Ice Biomes, as well as The End dimension.
"Blistering Heat" effect can be found in the Desert, Badlands, Jungle and Beach Biomes, as well as The Nether dimension.
"Encroaching Darkness" effect can be found in the Deep Dark, Dark Forest, and Soul Sand Valley Biomes, as well as The End dimension.
"Sheer Cold" and "Blistering Heat" will be accumulated over time and constantly in their respective biomes. These effects may generate more quickly in some biomes than others.
On the other hand "Encroaching Darkness" will occur randomly if you are in any biomes it can be active in.
If you accumulate enough "Sheer Cold" or "Blistering Heat" negative status effects will occur. So you have to manage it using some of the ways below:
Wear Leather Armor
Avoid wearing Iron and especially Chainmail
Avoid stepping in/on Ice, Packed Ice, Blue Ice, Powder Snow and water.
Stand near/on Fire, Campfires, Soul Fire or Soul Campfires. (Standing on them will reduce the effects greater than just standing near them, but you will take more than just normal fire damage.)
Lava and Lava Cauldrons will warm you significantly, in exchange for some damage to you.
If you are in multiplayer, you can stand near other players to reduce the effects as well. All that body heat will keep you warm
Avoid wearing Leather Armor
Wearing Iron Armor will cool you, wearing Chainmail Armor will cool you faster
Stepping in/on Ice, Packed Ice, Blue Ice, Powder Snow, Water, and Water Cauldrons will cool you, but when you heat is high it will damage you in exchange for rapid cooling.
Avoid lava and lava cauldrons
Avoid other players as it will increase you heat
Ice, Packed Ice, and Blue Ice will cool you more the more compact it is. You can also layer the ice around you like a shell as see in the photos above to cool you faster.
Sandstorm is a unique condition in addition to Blistering Heat for the Desert Biome.
To avoid being damaged and the other negative effects simply stand under a block that is 5 blocks above you or lower to negate the effects
There must be 7 blocks of air/half block above you for it to trigger again.
You can use /trigger SPClimate_recipe_book to obtain the recipes for all the following items.
Added recipes for (Snowballs from Clay + Water), (Ice from Snow Block), and (Powder Snow from Bucket, Snowballs, and Snow Block)

Energy Core AOE Device
There are 3 Energy Cores: Thermal, Cryogenic and Solar
Each grants their own effect, but only to a single player. By creating an AOE device you can amplify the effects of a single source to affect multiple players. Image 4 shows a the setup. Place an item frame on a redstone block(any orientation) and an Energy Source inside the frame. If it works the frame will go invisible and the only way to break it is to brake the redstone block. Now surround the source in its designated special material to activate the AOE device. You will need 5 of the designated block.
Designated Blocks
Thermal Source -- Magma Blocks
Cryogenic Source -- Blue Ice
Solar Source -- Sea Lanterns
The area affected will be a 50 block radius from the Energy Source. If you were to add a beacon to the center of the device after placing the Energy Source the radius goes from 50 blocks --> 500 blocks.
