Random Bosses V3.2
For Minecraft 1.14.4 to 1.15.2!


The WASD Random Bosses Datapack turns naturally spawned mobs in the world into bosses. It was inspired by an old mod that is similar in function. Bosses spawn with random power levels, a random name and title, and loot based on difficulty.


  • Bosses spawn with based on configurable spawn rate.
  • Stats determined at random, with corresponding boss level indicated in the name.
  • Random name and title for the boss, which adds a lot of interest.
  • Loot is based on boss level. The higher the level the greater the loot.

To install, follow the instructions contained in the “instructions.txt” file included in the download. If you are still having issues installing or want help knowing how to do something with the pack, ask for help on our discord.

I didn't really mean that. I mean, this is just like the Infernal Mobs mod because of mobs randomly spawning but with a greater attribute.

You don't need a command to start it. Generally the issue is that people forget to install the required library (a seperate datapack).

No. The Villager Names datapack is completely separate and just generates random names for villagers. The Random Bosses pack does require our datapack Library which contains the rng and math code as well as general scoreboards and functions.

That depends a lot on your armor, the game difficulty, and the pack difficulty. If you are on Hard Mode. with the pack also set to hard, and don't have enchanted diamond armor, then yes, it is normal to be killed in 1 hit.

It probably was the difficulty then, i think i had diamond and an iron helmet, i even had protection IV on one of the pieces.

I have a realm with my friends that uses data packs that add RPG elements, and this one has worked great!
Although I do have two recommendations that could help it in my opinion
1. High-level bosses are rarer than low-level bosses, so when you finally find and kill a high-level boss, it feels much more rewarding
2. The color of the bosses nametag is determined by level. This would make it easier to tell what you are going against, especially from far away or when the name tag blends in with the night sky
This data pack is really great and adds much more fun to mob hunting! Thanks for reading!
