We've teamed up with NVIDIA GeForce for an OPEN Minecraft Community Build Event! This time, it's an open theme to both Java & Bedrock builders! You will need to download and build on a custom starter map created by McMeddon.

So I believe we needed to build in vanilla textures, now I see a lot of uploads using diffrent texture packs... that cleary change colors and look of things... how can you compare this to a vanilla texture build...
If it was allowed can you be more clear in the rulles next time feel like an idiot building in normal vanilla textures now

Did my submission get removed for not following the rules? the rules said that I'm allowed to edit the terrain, so I'm not sure what happened. As for now it it not letting me post anything in the entry submission page.

Hiya! so im really keen enter this competition, however i would like to do some changes to the terrain, would it be at all allowed to use world painter to edit the terring (it looks like the map was made in that programme anyway) if not thats cool! just wondering if i can do it.

My note blocks look like crates; is this allowed as a texture pack? it's still the same in size only diffrent texture? really lifts up my build so thought I asked!

Hi I have been building for this competition and I was wondering on the rules it says this and I was also getting told by people that you can edit its much as you like and I've done quiet a lot of terraforming and I don't want to be disqualified for my build being to large kind regards NoCami
- Don't abuse the allowance to customize the map. You can customize the terrain but do so within reason. Basically, we should be able to recognize that you started with the starter map.

i would advise not to completely overhaul the map. removing a mountain or part of a forest is fine, but i wouldn't go farther than that. I would suggest working with the terrain and not against it.

what happens if ive extended the map a little like a flat floor out going into the ocean

If majority of your build is built on the provided map, then extending the ocean for atmosphere or something is fine.

also, would it matter how big it is? im afraid of the competition being debunked by people who might have half the map covered in houses or temples, which would lower the chances of people like me who don't use MCedit or Worldpainter significantly.

Doesn't matter how big or small your build is. It's up to you, what your concept is and creativity and time allows.

It would also be nice if people who already have a relatively new RTX 3070 or higher could participate, but would not receive the award because i have had GPU award contests before in different places where the winner got the GPU, which he already had, and sold it on ebay or etsy, or used it for Bitcoin mining. This i am less concered about since theres not really much to do.

The presentation of your build is what matters the most. A download is a bonus. NVIDIA isn't going to be downloading everyone's maps but of course the community will appreciate being able to experience them.

So, i dont want to give too much info, but my thing would be heavily based on nvidia. Is it allowed? I am not marketing them or the other company i would mention, but i have a fun idea

NVIDIA is supportive of creative work and the sponsorship is meant to motivate members to push their creativity. In our past event sponsored by them, there were builds that incorporated their branding and there were no complaints or voiced concerns. Without knowing your actual concept, I think as long as your not planning on selling the map, then it's probably fine.

Hey, am I able to use a texture pack that heavily changes the look of blocks? For example I have one that changes Crafting Tables into cardboard boxes, shulkers into drawers and candles into ceiling lights and ceiling fans. While it's not a mod, it does change the textures of blocks a lot. (I can upload a link to the texture pack in the submission if necessary)
Also, will Nvidia download maps and tour them themselves or is it purely based off of the pictures provided in the submissions?

Hmm, it sounds like this pack changes the models too? Candles into ceiling lights & fans. I would like to say yes because it sounds interesting but it also sounds like the texture pack might be more of an advantage / focal point of your build than other participants might feel is fair. We are allowing custom packs but if they go too far, then it might work against you in the sense that it would feel unfair to select as a winner. I don't think we're going to DQ for this type of thing since the spirit of the event is simply to promote creativity. I imagine you'd like to have a chance to win though. Sorry, I can't give a straighter answer.

Is it ok to use VanillaAccurate resourcepack?

Yes, you can use a custom resource pack. It just shouldn't add all new models / advantages beyond a retexture of existing vanilla objects. We care more about the overall build, concept and impact than what your textures might enhance.

Can it have depth? i mean like bookshelves having books that are like 3d, and cobblestone being actually bumpy?

Yes, the event is not judged by the textures of the build. Build event / contests are based on the overall creativity, concept, architecture, design and impact of your creation. Textures can enhance a build but if they "make" your build... you're relying on them too much. If you're taking a screenshot of a bookshelf, then... all we see is a bookshelf whether it's vanilla or bump mapped / 3D.
