I've long contemplated writing one of these, but I never had any occasion or idea what to do. But today I turn 21, and I feel like sentimentally reflecting on my time on this site. Usually, introductions are a first step into getting to know someone, yet, on this site, my introduction probably won't be the first impression you have of me. So perhaps, you'll just learn some things you might not have learnt before, as I reflect on my 7-8 years on this site (x

My story on the site (not really briefly, but briefly)

Early impressions

I've just mentioned I turn 21 today, which by extension means, that when I joined this site on this account on the 8th of February 2013 I was a little kid, 13, who did not know what he was about to enter. Joining the site was like joining a different world, my English was slightly disjointed still, partially due to my own lack of attempt at spelling properly, and also because I simply had not been learning it for that long. This led to plenty interesting early interactions and I am sure if you knew me back then, you'd see a stark contrast in my demeanour and articulation lol.

This made many early interactions somewhat alien to me, and entering this new world of online culture introduced me to many new curious situations and people. Understand that planetminecraft back then was not like it currently is, features you may consider integral to the current site, such as wall post, the profile widget editor and more was not available back then and the primary community hubs were the forums and pmc chat. I did not understand this until several months into my stay on this site, but experiencing that changed my outlook on the site entirely.

Skin wise I quickly found out who the "top dogs" were, and took a particular liking to Leostereo's work. I entered my first contest, the arctic contest, which Knobleknives won his first contest while Leostereo got 4th - Knoble would keep on being the great skinmaker he was for a while longer, while Leostereo after this faded away in his activity and would stop posting. The style of Leo's would be one I'd try to make my own, fail, and then slowly drift away from over time, which I am sure is something you can observe handily based on my skin gallery.

PMC chat

You may not understand this, given the current state of the site, but pmc chat with a healthy addition of skype communication was key to socialising on planetminecraft. PMC chat introduced me to many people who I'd consider friends and guided me throughout the site: I remember talking to Sellotaper, pestering him about how he advertised his skin too much, just to later fall into a similar rhythm. IAmPetz watching over us and occasionally joining in. Matt (Gopher_Tuna) was the eternal chat MVP, and is the friend I've held onto for the longest from this site, we've talked for 7 years now, and even if the talks aren't as frequent as they used to be, I am eternally appreciative of this.

Later on, meeting Cocoabunny, contrast, nananah, funkygoblin, scarletbox (currently wldscarlet) and more I gained a solid social circle on the site, which would be my foundation for much of my later activity. This was the time, where much of our activity was moved to skype as well, which led us develop tighter bonds, even if most of us were still too shy to actually talk to each other in call at this given moment. Skinwise, thanks to the added popularity boost from advertising in chat, I finally achieved my first skin on "what's hot" (currently named trending) and my first contest finalist (Finishing 40th out of 100 in the sci-fi contest). My first contest entry, for the arctic contest had achieved 0 diamonds beyond my own, so this was a substantial change of pace.

In chat I also got to meet several of the best skinners: Paddy and Teddy come to mind as people who you could frequently find in chat, and would be more than ready to whoop your bum if you made a mistake on a skin or if they felt your skins crossed the boundary into style-copying. At the time, this could feel crushing, but looking back on it, it was very helpful to me, helped me improve quickly and changed my outlook on how to give feedback well.

Rise to "pmc stardom"

After being introduced to the community aspect of pmc, getting rapid feedback and approaching skinmaking differently, I improved my skinmaking rapidly, and in the christmas contest, I got an 8th place; a tremendous rise from the previous results I had in contests. This was after a long break between contests, which had allowed me to get better (looking back, however, that skin was not exactly good LOL), this was followed by continued success on non-contest entries and then by a contest win in the first "life on the high seas contest" - which really felt like a turning point. This followed by a 3rd place in the above the skies contest, losing out to knobleknives and lantosyt, two giants of skinmaking gained me the confidence that I was doing something right. Around this time I also began streaming skin making with dino_derp (Deeno currently) which was a ton of fun too. This alongside an attempt at creating a for fun skin team, "cyperion", which mildly said, was shortlasting, although with a lit skype group, gave me a push to the wider community.

Meeting the greats

Around this time, Dollars returned to the site, and he created a feedback skype group, which I was lucky enough to be invited to. Here I met DatMuffinMan, Dollars, talked further to Paddy amongst others, I sincerely can't remember the entire group, but it was a great experience, and let me improve rapidly due to their great eye for detail and understanding of colours and shading. Later with the emergence of Discord, a similar group to this one would be created by knobleknives, which I parttook in too, with less consistent activity.

Loss of interest and infrequent product

In a period of time shortly thereafter, I lost interest in frequent skinmaking; my goal had been 1 skin per 1/2 weeks, but in this period, I genuinely stopped caring as much, and made fewer and fewer skins. It would take a while to get out of said slump, but in the meantime I met both CrazyPigglet and Brain_Juice (currently bureine) who I've still contact with today, mostly Bureine, who is my partner in crime. I think the problem I found, was that I didn't find enough fun in spending a ton of time on a skin, because I did not have any motivation to challenge myself thoroughly. This went on for a substantial amount of time, and only really two periods of time after it started saw me being ultra-motivated for skinning, which you will be able to find on my skin timeline on my profile if you're interested!

Recent times and stream server:

Following me leaving the knoble server, I stayed in contact with a lot of my pmc friends from the skype days, here amongst Akashi. Akashi and I did some streams together and decided it would be beneficial to make a discord server to host guests on the stream. When I then planned the Sonic Takeover, I used the server as the planning and executing power of the operation, which meant a lot of new people joined the server, here amongst, current great buddies such as Jake, Auri, canday, terminant, momu, kitt and more (I will forget many people). This great community led me to have a reemerged interest in planetminecraft.com and skinning.

Skin timeline, can also be found on my profile.

Introductions, friends (+descriptions)

I am a 21 year old minecraft skin maker from Denmark, you will occasionally see people use my real name to call me, but I won't spoil what it is to you here. If you're in stream server or been around for a while, you will definitely know however. I've been making minecraft skins for over 7 years (unfortunately) spending all of that time as an "active" member of the planetminecraft.com community. I am not particularly interested in pursuing anything in regards to graphics design, art etc. which is something people have thought I'd be interested in. I currently study Molecular Biomedicine on the last year of my bachelor's degree. Science is much more my passion than is art, which might appear funny, seeing how much time I've devoted to minecraft skinmaking... I much enjoy sports, and will watch a ton of different sports at practically any time I can. My primary sport for watching is football (soccer) and I also follow the NBA tightly. I play volleyball/beach volleyball myself (I am not thaaat good unfortunately) and I much enjoy playing practically any ball based sport LOL.

I usually take a stance on anything I want to take stances on, and don't have a great desire to always remain neutral. If you treat me poorly, I will happily treat you with the exact same level of respect. I will also say that I feel incredibly old on this site currently, and the wallpost nature of the site is not helping it. This is not a disservice to anyone on the site, it's just the nature of growing up, while the site attracts a younger fresh audience.

I'll also mention some of my friends on this site here:

Matt: I've known you since Halloween in 2013, thank you for being there while I grew up. It's been incredibly exciting to follow your journey through life while getting to experience the same journey in the meanwhile. You've been a great support, moreso than you can imagine, and throughout the years, even if we talk less and less frequently.I appreciate all conversations and the fun we've had greatly.

Bureine: We had episodes where we crossed boundaries, but in the end, we've come out on the other side stronger than before. Thank you for always being the fun outgoing personality you are. According to Jake, when we're together, we're a dynamic duo that just consumes everyone else into our flow in a voice chat. And what can I say, we've had a great ride thus far brother.

Auri: We met late, but I feel like out of everyone, you're the one that feels the most exactly the same age as I. We can talk random memes, banter but also serious topics. You and I taking our degrees at the same time gives some form of relatability and even if the banter sometimes isn't that great, we always have a lot of fun in the end I feel like.

Jake: Jake is the kindest person you're going to meet. I am grateful you talk to me about biology, well I guess I do most of the talking, but you listen along and find interest in it. We talk about art, about music and about random crap that I am not sure everyone would be able to find equal enjoyment out of. You better stream beatsaber or something again soon big boy <3

Terminant: you have the best laughter out of all I know, it's so incredibly infectious and you always bring the best of moods to anywhere you join. We might not have known each other for long, but for all it is worth, I've appreciated getting to know you better. Your knowledge when it comes to certain topics is fascinating, keep on shining mate.

Canday: Your artistry and ability to meme is truly incredible. Combining the serious with the leisure and easiness you bring is not easy, but you manage it everytime.

Jamie: Thank you for backing me up over all these years, you're absolutely deserving of all the praise you get, and you always bring a smile on my face and make me laugh when we're in voice chat. You do the best of work and your dedication is truly a motivation.

Anna: I know this sounds weird, but to me you're almost like a pmc little sister with how you act and how we interact. I tease you for fun sometimes, and you tease me back, although you rarely succeed it's always a good time (: and I hope you deep down find it to be a lot of fun too (x

Momu and Fishkiss: I will put you in the same boat, as I haven't known you for long, and in the sense that the message will work for both of you. You're the stream server gamer girls, who're always ready for a joke, both incredibly talented and somehow mesh well with our tempo, even if it sometimes goes off track. Momu, you're one of the few people who I can talk any sports to from this site ad you have a very fun personality and Fishkiss, you're an incredible voice in any call, which feels rare from a newer pmc member, and is much appreciated.

Kitt-chan: you sometimes make some proper level dumb posts, which even I cannot quite fathom, but you're always in on any joke, and you're willing to look at any tea with me. Know you're much appreciated, not just by me, but by our entire community.

Hatsy: I've enjoyed seeing you grow very much, from when you just joined the site and got your first feedback, to when you achieved popularity. Your personality can sometimes be quiet and serious, but deep down, I know you love the tea and chaos that can sometimes be prevalent on this site. I'm so incredibly proud of how far you've come, and I feel like some old teacher or something for that reason, but you've truly made something great during your time on this site and during the time I've known you.

Decora: Make sure you have confidence in yourself, you have all the reason to have such. Me and all of the others will always be there for you and back you up!

Trisha: You won't read this, but you need to be on this list for all the love and support (:

Sello, cocoa, funkygoblin, Lola and all of my old mates, who I haven't talked to in a while: I've appreciated all of your support and all of our conversations throughout the times, and if you ever want to regain active contact, please hit me up, I'd love to hear where life has taken you (x

I will add more once more comes to mind lol.

Reflecting upon my time on this site

I've had an up and down relationship with PMC. On one hand, I've loved the community and on the other, I've also hated seeing that community I loved turn into something I could not actively associate with. PMC is much moreso than you think filled with facades and people who I find tough to appreciate. People who need to tell you how nice they are or have been usually aren't very nice, and pmc seems to have quite a few of those. Convince with action, not by word.

On the other hand, I would like to thank Cyprezz for creating this site. For all it is worth, PMC and the interaction I had with the community helped me grow up and realise key values that I still hold onto to this day. I want to thank Charlizard for setting me straight sometimes and being incredibly kind when I talked to him lately. Same goes for Potatologic or DaddyLogic. As scary as the thought it for me, I amongst many others grew up into who we are on this site, at least as a backing vocal that you could always fall back to. PMC, at least back when I was most active, truly was an amazing community and it's something I've come to appreciate more the older I've gotten. For how much longer I will be able to at all see myself on the site, I am not sure. Currently the active pmc based community and I have driven slightly apart it feels like, and I mostly here to post my skins when I have a good idea. But sometimes old memories reemerge and I meet my old friends, to which I find great joy. I hope new members who join, can have an equally positive experience as I, because trust me, when pmc was good it was truly great, and those memories and friendships have not faded. And I am thankful that so many people have been with me along the way to where I currently am.

Thank you so very much for all the years of support everyone, this introduction is long overdue, and even what I have written does not really do it justice. I know there is a lot of text, but I feel like I need to cover many areas of my time here, for the introduction to feel complete. If you want to ask any questions, feel free to do so (x Happy birthday to me I guess and thank you to everyone who made this journey worth it!

you're unique in that, at least in what's still public, I honestly don't think you have any bad skins, which, across seven years, isn't incredibly easy to do. happy birthday!

Glad you finally took the time to write an introduction!! :,0

genuinely one of the most interesting people on PMC and most qualified to write a timeline (at least an interesting one :))
this is such a wholesome post, I hope you have a wonderful birthday! Joining stream server is honestly the best thing I've done in all my time on PMC. It's such a supportive and loveable community and all the people I've met are extremely amazing people (this includes you)
it's amazing how you've stayed on this site for seven years. I really respect how down to earth you are

I hope you enjoy your remaining time on PMC and the time after that too!! happy happy birthday ♥

Don't think one forgets the old tofu boy like that aha. That was a good time. Was that around call club as well? Genuinely, if there is one thing I'd mention on the timeline I did not, it would be call club. That somehow felt like the culmination of the pmc skype adventures, and I am sure you'd agree that it contains many great moments (x.

There's so much that had to be left out of this in terms of great memories, as I just don't have the patience to write my entire story in an introductory forum thread haha. There are so many good things that could be talked about, and a fair few bad moments too.

My accent is a bit weird, even if you know where I am from, I am often misidentified despite that. I am not the best to describe it unfortunately, but you can ask around if you're curious (x. Otherwise you can always head by stream server, where we frequently voice chat if you're really curious. (Also trust me, my memory is quite wild, so of course I remember lol)
