    Shadow VS Mewtwo ROOTS & BETS


    ...A’ight, so I wanna make it clear I do think this is debatable to an extent, and I could see Mewtwo winning. To start off, he has a greater quantity of abilities, though, obviously, that ≠ greater quality. Main issue is that Shadow resists way too many of Mewtwo’s abilities (such as Mind Manipulation via his defiance to Black Doom’s mind attacks, or Mewtwo’s own possible Time Manipulation via Shadow’s ability to break out of time stops with the Chaos Emeralds) or has ways to come back from them via the Chaos Emerald’s (i.g. Mewtwo can send Shadow to another dimension, but the emeralds can teleport between dimensions. Mewtwo might be able to steal the Emeralds, but the emeralds can be recalled to their user). This isn’t great for Mewtwo because it means he’ll be in a game of trial and error, and when it comes to stats… well, it’s a mess.

    For one, we know DB is likely gonna put Shadow somewhere in Multiversal tiers of power and Quadrillions of times FTL in speed thanks to the chaos emeralds. Mewtwo is definitely no slouch in stats, as we’ve seen him perform or scale to planetary (or higher) levels power before, but that obviously won’t cut it here. Iicr, the highest you can argue for Mewtwo’s power is Universal due to him (apparently) creating a dimension/universe, though I don’t know how viable this is. Now, there are a few arguments for Mewtwo scaling to Creation Trio of Pokémon (who are arguably Multiversal in power as well), but they’re very contentious. DB could still go for this, but the issue is that it’d likely be a downscale, as it’s very theoretical since Mewtwo has never actually fought the trio, whereas Shadow is more concretely dealing with the strongest beings in his verse, such as Solaris, and he’s likely gotten stronger since.

    In terms of speed, I could be wrong, but I doubt they’ll grant infinite for either, as they clearly seem to believe the Sonic universe is finite, and I’d be shocked if the Pokémon cosmology’s infinite arguments were more compelling to them. The highest finite feats I’ve been able to find from Pokémon are generally Billions of times FTL, which Shadow’s speed would obviously eclipse, meaning even if they say power is vaguely similar, they’ll likely give speed to Shadow (also, the finite size of the Sonic verse seems to be more defined anyway, so I still guess he’ll take strength).

    Essentially, Mewtwo is in a rough position where he could get blitzed and/or one shot depending on what’s bought, meaning he’d have to quickly use an ability that Shadow may not resist in order to pull a win, but again, Shadow has counters to several of Mewtwo’s abilities, so that’s not exactly easy to pull off. Now, I could see Mewtwo maybe winning a few times with future sight to see minutes into the future; however, that’s not really saving him from Shadow using Chaos Control to stop time nor is it going to tell him outright what abilities Shadow doesn’t resist. It also doesn’t help that Mewtwo’s future sight doesn’t seem to be autonomous, meaning he can’t always be aware of Shadow’s next move unless he decides to use this ability himself. Tbf Mewtwo can heal himself from some fatal damage, which might prolong the fight, but it’s not potent enough stop Shadow from simply overwhelming it with his stat advantage.

    Definitely, thou if Shadow took off his inhibitor rings Mewtwo would definitely be in trouble since those rings limits Shadow’s abilities and keep his energy levels stable but in the end it just comes down to the plays here. I’m ofc more knowledgeable when it comes to the Sonic universe than I am the Pokémon universe plus Shadow in different universes is stronger too but I presume this is mainline game Shadow so it would be him as most people see him so yea this will definitely be interesting to see the outcome but like you my bet is on Shadow winning

    Yeah, come to think of it, Mewtwo really has some bizarre abilities that could def give them the win here should they implement the right strategy. On top of future sight, Trick Room allows slower combatants to attack first, Speed Swap… swaps speed (though Shadow’s Chaos Control should still counter this), Psych up copies additional stat buffs (EDIT: tho i don’t think this applies to Shadow’s super form, probably just his buffs he gets from rings n stuff since i don’t think it affects evolutions), and Power/Guard Swap apparently swaps base stats... Yeah, so in the games, it only swaps stat buffs, but i’ve heard that an anime recently confirmed it to be a complete swap, which…may be very bad for Shadow (Mewtwo also has Soul Manipulation, Petrification, DNA Infection, etc., but they all have caveats and Shadow has arguments for resisting them because of that). Still, I don’t know the exact mechanics or drawbacks of these abilities, and I’ve heard their effectiveness here debated a lot, so I’m still betting Shadow; however, if Mewtwo does end up winning due to these abilities… I wouldn't be shocked.

    Just think Shadow has enough counters and advantages to muscle his way through Mewtwo’s kit before he finds a way to win.

    I definitely feel in many ways that Shadow has this in the bag but I know for a fact Shadow’s abilities are ones not to mess around with due to his strength and the ability for him to use chaos abilities (I.e Chaos Blast, Spear, Control, etc) plus the factor he has taken on two gods (Mephiles by himself and Solaris with the help of Sonic and Silver in 06) plus him also taking on Black Doom/The Black Arms some if not thee strongest alien beings in his universe and beating them twice (counting both the events of Shadow the Hedgehog 2005 and SXSG with him fighting and beating Black Doom yet again) plus the factor like you mentioned Shadow is immune to mind control so that also gives him more of an edge too. So my bet is definitely on Shadow but I would also say from what I know about Mewtwo’s abilities they’d definitely have a chance but I think Shadow is more likely to win

    yes.

    tbf so is Mewtwo, but Shadow (in his super form) is still helping Sonic and Silver fight the strongest beings in the verse, like Solaris, while Mewtwo has never once had to fight the Creation Trio. You could probably make the case for Mewtwo defeating Base Shadow, but Death Battle always grants Sonic characters their super forms with the emeralds, so unless Mewtwo can outlast the time limit, it won’t matter.

    Isn’t Shadow also one of the strongest, and also draws power from the chaos emerald? I could be wrong, maybe he just protects it- but if I remember right there was a movie where Shadow single handed fought off Sonic and someone else, I think Tails, and kept them from getting the emerald
