Go past low expectations and become who you were made to be.
  • “all effort—even failed effort—produces muscle.” -Alex Harris

Did you know that less than one hundred years ago, the word 'Teenager' didn't exist? Yeah, I know right!

Over the past hundred years things have changed a lot. I mean a ton. Expectations for Teens have changed. Before teens could do so many things. You could help lead a boat when you were twelve! There were only two categories Children and Adults. No in between. You could do so many big things back then and you were encouraged to do so! Expectations were high, then BOOM!! They dropped.

Now days many adults think down on teenagers. They see them as crazy partying people that are wasteful. Expectations were dropped and we went down to meet them. Really it isn't out fault, since we weren't here 70 some years ago. Its just been like this since then, we had no idea.

I had no idea till I read 'Do hard things' By Alex and Brett Harris. (I suggest you check it out, its really good!) (They're the ones that started the Rebelution which this group is founded upon!)

Do you want to go past these low expectations set before us? Do you want to live your teen years not looking back when your an adult feeling as though they were wasted? Do you want to do hard things? If so you've came to the right place!

This is a group where you are encouraged to do hard things. A group where we won't shelter you we'll help push you out of the wall of your comfort zone that holds you captive. We'll be beside you as your grow in who you are suppose to be.

The only way you can change is if you really want to, which just takes a few steps out of your comfort zone than a few more, just a few little steps can change a lot!

“It’s about an idea. It’s about rebelling against low expectations. It’s about a movement that is changing the attitudes and
actions of teens around the world. And we want you to be part of it.” -Alex Harris

Are you ready? Are you ready to take a step out and change the world?

Keep what your writing focused on the heart of the group idea, don't be rude or complain about someone, And if you have any questions PM or guest book me. (Don't swear)

Is this group only for teens? (AKA Young adults)
No, although this group is mainly focused on teens (Age 13+ to 18) Adults are still free to join!

How do I request to join?
Just make a guest book post in the guest book including the words 'I want to do hard things' I only want people in this group if they actually want to do hard things. If your too scared to its fine lol, a follow would still be much appreciated!

Does this group have any events or whatnot?
Yes, there will me! I have a ton of stuff planned out so just wait 'an see. :)

Are there any things you can recommend to help me do hard things?
I'd suggest to read the 'Do Hard things' and 'Start here' by Alex and Brett Harris. If your not a book person, than I suggest you listen to their podcast. 'Do hard things'

    What are hard things exactly?
Hard things are just like the words. There are two types of hard things. Small hard things and big hard things. Small hard things are some of the hardest hard things, they're things like taking out the trash when your asked to, doing the dishes, cleaning your room, doing the lawn, doing your best at school. These things are small, but they're so important to form the character of who you are. :)

    Profile banner
The profile banner is symbolizing a comfort zone. The girl standing looking over the fence is stuck in her comfort zone watching others running around outside thriving, doing things you can't do in your comfort zone. :)

    What events are there currently?
One of the main things of this group is the 'star' challenge. It goes every month each year. By joining this group your put into the star challenge.

Each month in wallposts I'll give 3-6 (Unless I get to busy and forget x,D, than you can just go off of the last months challenges and use it for that month) (Or maybe sometimes more, but I'll start small) of hard things to try to do that month. Including things like talk to someone who appears alone, strike up a conversation with a random stranger, do something you've never done before. These are just a few of the challenges! Certain stars have more points on them than others.

And... here is the twist. By the end of the month tell me which of the things you did. (You can go into detail if you want to) You'll get a star.

Each person with stars will be added to a list on a widget and we'll see who at the end of the year has the most stars. (By the way, please don't just think about this challenge for just getting stars, its meant to encourage you and push you out of your comfort zone in order to get stars, not just for the star part :)

What do I do if I have more questions?
Just write them in the guest book or PM TheMountaineer. :)

How do I support this group?
Want to support this group? Its pretty simple. Following the group is one of the biggest things you can do to support it. Others ways would be advertise it so others can see. And if your a member with content privileges (Those will be given out at the end of this year) then make content. (I'll add an expandable spoiler below to explain what kind of content you can post around the time members are able to post!

Another month for another set of challenges: :D
This month will more be focused on things you can do to help yourself out of your comfort zone, verses last month really went over harder things you can do to help others out.
So without further a do, lets get to it. :)

      In real life challenges:
Try out a new game (or sport) (2 Stars)
Try out this month saying 'yes' as much as you can. (Okay, let me get this straight lol, don't say yes to things that could in danger your life or hurt others lol) But, just try out new things, don't be afraid to say yes. :D (1 Star)
And last, but not least. (I know I said this is more on helping you... but) This month try to be as welcoming as you can. Like stand at a door and open it for others. Help someone if their carrying a heavy load. Go introduce yourself to someone new (Or that you've never seen before) Invite others into your group. I know this is easier said than done for many. But, try it out, and at the end of the month, I'd love to hear how it went. :) (3 stars)

      Online challenges:
      Try participating in a jam
See if you can help out with any events.
Introduce yourself to all of the new people joining.

Good luck! You got this! :))

This month I'm going to try something new with the monthly inspiration.

You have no idea, that just by doing small hard things how much you can inspire people. I know as a teen its scary (I say this with experience x,D)

One little thing can change someones life. I know some people might be one track mind people. For example. Where you need to get something at a store and you fly right in, grab it, buy it and leave. Is that you? Okay, first thing there is nothing wrong with a one track mind, the only thing is, you miss lots of opportunities to influence people for good.

Lets say you go back in time, and instead of rushing in and out of the store you walk in slowly, and smile at everyone and see what you can do (like encourage others, compliment them on their outfit, help them out) [Again I know as a teen this is scary] But, think about it.

I've read something before I'll paraphrase it 'You'll never regret kindness (Never ever)'

I'll tell you something, when you say something or do something that makes someone happy its addicting lol.

      Apply:
Take some time this month to really think about this.
Stop telling yourself that just because your a teen you can't do __________ fill in the blank.

And have a good rest of your month. I encourage you to really try doing this, not just at a store, but everywhere you go!

      You got this! :)

We often want to do something good for others or achieve something, but it's really difficult to start. It's especially hard for teenagers, we're overwhelmed by school, adults often don't trust our ideas and we can't do some things.
I have an idea how to do it: start from smaller things.
As a certain meme says, "It ain't much but it's honest work". A bunch of small bits of honest work can help you achieve your goal.

I have a recent example from a few hours ago:
I am involved in various volunteer activities and I wanted to ask my school to help with collecting things for one of these. However, I was scared to do it. The volunteer group at my school is large and there are so many more people that I'd have to tell about it. I didn't know if they would accept my idea. I'm a teenager and I can't drive, so I would have to ask someone for help to deliver the collected things.
I decided to start with a more achievable goal. I asked a group of people who are involved in the case (less than me, but they know about it) if we can do it. They accepted my idea.
If it goes well, I'll ask people at my school if we can do it too.

The group's challenges are good idea of things that you can do to make others happy.
Remember that you can achieve a lot if you don't give up at the first time when you're unsure.
