Well, that's day 20 of 40 days of sketching. Quite odd, on one hand it's not a lot of days but in another way while looking through them. A lot has happend. in terms of progress.

Either way, I am looking forward for the next 20 days to sketch on location. Quite different compared to sketching from google streetview. The only downside? possible bad weather & roughly 20~24 hours of traveling needed from closing the front door behind me, all the way to my first place to stay. But that's something for tomorrow morning.

So... day one in the pocket of my own sketch journey.

Being inspired by Stubbs1 Sketch journey's one and two. I decided to do my own version of it. Not 60 but 40 days of sketching. The first 20 to get the very basic's down or rather, re-evaluate what I always used as base without really questioning it.

The last 20 days, doing actual urban sketching while traveling abroad / being on vacation. With the main goal to be in better shape in my vacation than the previous years.

p.s. also making this post to give an additional kick under my own butt, to do it actually for 40 days.

It's been a while since my last build. Apparently a year minus 2 days... Which means I am also now roughly 11,5 years on PMC

Either way, to keep things interesting & trying something new for presentation; I tried making a video. It's rough (including grammar, it's google translated not my strongest point) but interesting to give it a shot.

So for my latest build. A redstone powered Shinkansen below my first video attempt.

I think I need to tear a lot of Haven down and rebuild it from the ground up. I don't want to redo everything I've done so far but I've been stalling on updating this pack since like 1.18 and I just can't find the drive to do it. I load it into my game from time to time to try and get some of my inspiration back but a lot of times I wander around and just don't really like what I see anymore, and I think a lot of that just has to do with my style and texturing ability changing as the years went on.

Despite this, I don't want to let go of it just yet, but something definitely needs to change. I'm missing that creative momentum I had from the last overhaul I did and I want to feel excited about working on it again. Might need to step back and draft up some new concept art before I dive into it again...

I haven't made much progress with Haven lately, partly since I've been waiting for 1.20 to drop so I can properly update the biome colormaps, but in the meantime I've been tinkering a bit with a Default enhancement pack over the last few months or so.

I'll hopefully have a download ready for this in the near future. It's basically a mix of some light CTM, block randomization, some features ported over from Haven plus other projects that inspired me, and more. Also wanted to see if I could bring back some of Minecraft's old programmer art textures but in the style of modern minecraft pixel art (such as the melons for example)

I'm not planning on it being a huge overhaul of the game's textures, but moreso just an addon to enrich what's already in the game.

Late to the party, but it's something. I wish it was easier to show off mangrove roots in the natural biome.
