    PMC has Moderator applications now, which is cool!

    One thing I'd like to emphasize, though: don't apply "for fun", and don't apply if you're still young. As cool as it might sound, it can drain your life if you can't handle it.

    I moderated several Discord servers when I was younger and it started out fun-- I got to connect with popular people I look up to and it was an honor to help them out directly.

    But the things you see as a mod are not to be taken lightly. Regular members don't understand or respect the intense labor that staff endure. I had no balance in my life back then, so as a moderator I ended up draining hundreds of precious hours for years, hours I could have used to focus on personal projects. Hours I could have used to make more connections with my irl friends at school.

    Then there's always the drama. Whether it's between members or a conflict within the staff team that you got to know, you could get mixed into it one way or the other as a moderator.
    And then you'll meet your first relentless internet troll to deal with. They may unapologetically make verbal attacks at members or post inappropriate things. Then, you may have self-defeating thoughts believing that the problem could have been solved faster if it weren't for you.

    I will repeat it once again: nothing is "fun" about this kind of volunteering. It is genuine work that you should all take the time to respect.

    There are many exceptional people I know who are ready to handle it, and you may be one of them too. I just want you to know the burdens you might face if you take the job.

    If you see a moderator active here, thank them for all that they do.
    If you can't understand any of what I said, don't apply. It's for your own good.

    This is the message I would've wanted myself to know when I applied back then.

    AetherSpirit was the winner of the datapack contest I hosted 3 years ago. Just from that one datapack they demonstrated their amazing creativity and I still remember how I had a lot of fun exploring the many features they added!

    Spirit, from one datapacker to another, I'm glad you had fun with datapacks while it lasted, much like I did before. I too have found new passions, and I get that it's always a bittersweet feeling to look back. Wish the best for you on your new path in life, super excited for you!

    So... been a while, huh?

    When I was 13 or so, I was able to get an email account all my own with help from my dad. At the time, my passions for Minecraft datapacking were great, and excitedly the first thing I did with my account was make an account in Planet Minecraft, shortly thereafter posting my first datapack, version 1.0 of Strange Plants. It didn't get a lot of attention, none of my things have. But, the few diamonds it got were special. Fast forward a few years, and so much has changed. I have learned about myself, I have learned about other things, my skills at many things have grown, and... My passions for datapacking have disolved. While I am still a passionate person, my passions exist for other things now, namely digital art. I always knew datapacking was a temporary thing for me, but it's still hard for me to say goodbye to my first profile. I might make a post here with links to my art profiles when I'm done with them, I might make small datapacks every once in a while, but for the most part, this is goodbye.

    I can't particularly recomend you check out my datapacks, as all of them are outdated and not very well coded compared to what I can do now, but if you do just remember that I had fun with them, and, of course, that I hoped that you would all...
