Hello,

this is a cab-over truck in 1:1 scale.
On my way home I saw a truck like this with a man standing next to it and it became clearer than ever before to me how small trucks actually are because the man's head reached just under the lower end of the windshield. So, I really wanted to try to build a truck in 1:1 scale and see how convincing I could make it.

Enjoy!

That is one very slim truck IRL, as Steve is 1 m thicc.

In this image you can see that the front below the windshield is pretty much a square, so I had to make it 2 blocks wide to create that square below the windshield:

And Steve is just extremely buff. Most people aren't a meter wide in reality.

I always thought Steve as the average human scaled.

In height this might be true as he is approximately 1.85 meters tall. However, Steve is exactly half as wide as he is tall (32 pixels tall, 16 pixels wide), so he would be 0.925 meters wide in reality.

This also explains why the truck looks so slim even though the height is in correct proportion to Steve's height. It's not the truck that is too slim, it's Steve who is too wide :P

Everything in Minecraft is out of scale, since bees and spiders are bigger than birds etc.

Yes, Minecraft blocks also tend to look smaller than a cubic meter in real life, that's why I and I think many other people, too don't actually build in 1:1 but in something around 1.5:1 because it feels much more realistic than 1:1.

For this truck, I didn't care about whether it feels too big or too small, I only cared about the technically closest measurements to a 1:1 scale.
And because Minecraft blocks feel smaller than real cubic meters, of course this truck feels too small xD

You could make it have a 3 block width, probably would look better?

3 blocks wide would have looked too wide in my opinion, but as these EU trucks can be up to 2.55 meters wide without the mirrors in reality, I guess you could make it 3 blocks wide as well.
