Welcome to the second edition of 5 Structures / 5 Stories. If you missed the first edition, I suggest you go take a look ... But later ... Now you have to take a look at this one! Basically what I do is taking a single theme (In this case a Smithy) and present to you 5 different models of that single theme. Even more, Each structure will come with its own explanation (Why choose one material over another, why is the structure built that way etc.).
So for this edition, as mentionned before, I present you with 5 Smithy. Sorry no extra structure this time ... Lacked inspiration for something wicked like the Potion Bottle Shaped Shop from the first edition:
SMITHY
1. The Cozy Blacksmith: This structure is made from Brick, Spruce and Cobblestone. The main feature of this structure is the large cobblestone chimney that has uses both inside and outside the structure. On the outside, it hosts two furnaces that are used for working metal and on the inside there is also two furnaces that can be used as a heating source and for preparing meals.
On the outside, a basic smithy has all the equipment needed to make horseshoes and other pieces of equipment (Anvil, reservoir of water and a chest). Behind the structure is a space to keep horses.
On the inside of the house is quite basic but has all the basics needed for comfort. There is a table that can seat up to four people, a large bed, two big chests, a workbench and a small chest.
The entire structure is well lit and provide both comfort and protection.
2. The Devoted Blacksmith: This Birch and Jungle Wood structure is a shop, nothing more. It has an outside area to work metal that has a large brick chimney, a water reservoir and an anvil. On the inside, a simple counter and multiple chests allow the owner to make business. By the look of the inside of this shop, we can tell that the owner is definitely more of a blacksmith than a salesman.
3. The Rich Blacksmith: This very large Brick, Oak and Cobblestone structure stands two stories tall. On the first floor, a large opened area serves as the actual Smithy. With its large flaming chimney, its anvil and reservoir and with its many chests and racks on the walls, this smithy's owner is visibly quite successful since all his racks are empty and yet he owns this very large building.
On the second floor, The Chimney is reused as a fireplace and the entire area is opened with a table that can seat two, three chests, a workbench and a furnace. Also a large bed is present to make these dangerous nights go by like a breeze ... Finally for additional comfort, a couch and for the view, two very large bay windows that allows a fantastic view on the city around the house.
4. The Horseshoe Maker: This Spruce and Oak structure is more a barn than anything else. Half of the lot is devoted for the keeping of horses. On the inside of the barn, a little conversion work was made to make this place more ... practical. So all the usual equipment for metal working is there as well as an inside area to work on horses when it rains or snow.
5. The Retired Blacksmith: This structure is made from Oak and Spruce. There is a Cobblestone path that covers the entire front of the structure and leads to the back of the structure. There, the Cobblestone path is patched with grass and the entire area seemed to be abandoned. A chimney has only coal in it left and the anvil is very damaged. The reservoir is empty and the whole area is covered in spider web. A door leads inside but is blocked from the inside by chests.
Inside a nice cozy area with two couches is very useful for receiving guests. Also a workbench and furnace combo provides the equipment necessary for preparing food. A bookcase is placed in the middle of the area partially hiding a large bed as well as a stack of chests that were probably used once to stock on blacksmithing equipment, raw material and finished products.
From the look of the place, this Smithy's owner does not use his installations anymore!
EXTRA: Sorry but the Princess is in another castle ... Just kidding! Maybe next time!
