Level 17 : Journeyman Toast
This project started out on a normal map and was inspired (much like my skin) by the World of Warcraft however due to scale, time and the simplicity of just wanting to build I am making it on a flatland map *however* I will eventually use MCEdit to place it on a normal map once I find the perfect seed for it. I wanted originally to recreate the Scarlet Monastery - Cathedral; however it was not turning out the way I wanted, so I said bollocks to it, opened up paint, and set out to design my own from scratch.

While structurally, it obviously has major flaws but I believe that I am giving a just representation of what is a traditional Renaissance with: arches, domes, large high arched windows, flying buttresses [a shout out to an old teacher who would not shut up about them] and a feeling of vastness. I have come to find that the sheer scale I am using is beyond the rendering capabilities in game even using max distance viewing however I do not believe that detracts from the build itself. Please, If you have any ideas, comments or suggestions about the project in anyway (even changes) let me know as I want this to be the best it can be.

While I strive to be accurate about the general style and feel, I know it will not be 100% and that certain parts may be anachronistic in nature and merged from different genres and styles. This is my design based on my favourite aspects of how I feel it should be.**

Additional Notes

To properly get an idea of how the project should look, you need to download the Johnsmith texture pack so colors and blocks are shown appropriately.

Once the project is completed I will put it on a public server.

**UPDATE: the texutre pack that will be used for this Project is the Liminal texture pack.

Update #7 : by paladin087 12/10/2013 8:48:32 amDec 10th, 2013

As I have seen a lot done by other (more gifted) Minecraft builders, and with my recent discovery of the texture pack Liminal, I have decided to give this project a major overhaul. The previous texture pack, JohnSmith, was used, but as I do not want to find an updated version that I like, I will be replacing block by block much of this structure to fit the new texture pack and I will try to find a world spawn to fit this project as well to have a surrounding landscape (flatworld sucks). To those who have commented before, wished me luck and the 20 as of now that have Given me a diamond, it is the least I owe you for the support when this project was first posted - and now... let it be done!

Looks very nice, have a diamond :-)

If you have issues with the render distances, but a decent cimputer, I suggest you use the free software "chunky", which makes pretty decent renders, I use it a lot.

Thank you =)

Currently trying my hand at using Chunky - thus far, I love the detail it brings out of the project and the texture pack... and for the first time I can see the whole thing at once! Haha, its great - I will try to post some better pics with this to be sure; definitely a weekend photo project.

Again, Thank you.
