Diocletian's Palace
Hey everyone, my latest Minecraft project aims to recreate Diocletian's Palace, a 4th Century Roman Imperial Palace in what is now Split, Croatia. Diocletian's palace served as the retirement home for Roman Emperor Diocletian between his abdication in 305 CE to his death in 312 CE. After Diocletian's death, he was laid to rest in the palace at a special mausoleum designed for his final resting place. The Palace complex remained as an Imperial fortified complex for the remainder of the Empire's existence and was converted into a fortified medieval town after the Empire's fall.
Today, what remains of Diocletian's Palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a major tourist attraction in Split, Croatia. While most of the Palace has been built over, some parts including 3 of the 4 original walls, the Palace Entrance, Diocletian's Mausoleum, and the Temple of Jupiter have survived in varying states of preservation. The site is also known today for its well preserved sublevels which were used for storage in Diocletian's time.
