UPDATE January 15, 2020
More than a year after first posting this project, I am finally updating it with massive progress! The building's architecture is essentially finished besides a few minor details.
This high school project is based on a typical 2000-student American high school. The architecture itself is highly inspired by the Neoclassical architecture that dominated school building construction in the early 1900s. Other features, such as the massive clerestory windows in the gym, are borrowed from Victorian Gothic institutional buildings such as the military armories designed by Pilcher & Tachau in New York State.
Here are the features found in this school building:
Here are the things that remain to be done:
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION
I've built a few school buildings before, but I don't particularly like any of them anymore, and there are many things I wanted to improve - so I decided to build another!
It's taken a few days so far, using WorldEdit. It should hopefully be finished in a few more days.
This build will be a standard American high school, with all of the usual facilities and, by my estimation, in real life would have a capacity of up to 1500 students, which is average.
So far most of the classrooms and offices are finished, and the cafeteria and library are close to finished. The recreational areas are not built yet, as can be seen in the pictures.
This design is entirely my own original creation. The Classical/Italianate/Romanesque façade is inspired by a few very old school buildings where I live, but it is my own take on the neoclassical American school building archetype.

- Over 20 large classrooms (science lab, art studio, etc.)
- Guest entrance with receptionist window
- Administrative offices
- Space for a counseling/advising office suite
- Cafeteria and kitchen
- Library and librarian's office
- Woodshop, shop classroom, and shop teacher's office
- Band/music hall with office, equipment rooms, practice room
- 3 large event halls
- Gymnasium with basketball court, dedicated lobby, ticket booth, concession window and kitchen
- Boys, Girls, and Visiting teams locker rooms
- Athletics offices, weightlifting room, health education classrooms
- Auditorium with balcony level and dedicated lobby
- Theater dressing rooms, classrooms, prop shop
- Dance studios
- Plenty of restrooms, including two gender-neutral bathrooms
- Utility rooms including elevator mechanical rooms and maintenance offices
Here are the things that remain to be done:
- Fixtures in restrooms, kitchens, etc.
- Landscaping
- Other set of gym bleachers
- Lighting improvements in rooms with high ceilings
- Subdivide administrative offices and music practice room
- Furnishings???? (I usually don't completely furnish my buildings)

UPDATE January 15, 2020 - 80% finished : by _Shako 01/15/2020 9:28:51 pmJan 15th, 2020
The building itself is now finished! Only interior fixtures such as gym bleachers and restroom plumbing remains, as well as landscaping. In the future I may also make some subdivisions to administrative offices and music practice rooms, and more clearly define the counseling office suite.
