The Orangerie was actually built to enclosen the palatial area towards the city and the newly begun Sacre-Cœur de Lucrécy. It is located in the northern park area and surrounds the orangery grounds, were the foreign plants are housed in summer, whilst they are brought into the halls of the orangerie in winter.
The imperial collection of exotic plants is unequalled today and comprises plants from all over the world, as the Empire Castairien is an important colonial power.

The building style of the orangery is kept classicistic to not distract the viewers eye from the baroque palace and stands in direct proposition to the whole gardens. Its two wings, the plant halls, surround the orangery grounds, protecting the sensitive plants against wind. The six towers are completely senseless, but they just look astounding.
