  • i thought i fixed the starter evolution but apparently it wasnt fixed. but now it is! FOR SURE THIS TIME
  • lenora has a suitable pokemon and the gym battle is drastically harder! make sure to save frequently!
  • nimbasa noteblock music stalled. zombie died in hopper and messed it up. (fixed now)
  • zen darumaka was missing on route 4 (now added back in)
  • added repel, potions and food into the pc (enderchest)

  • small changes added to the map such as the nurse in front of pinwheel forest, more evolutions, and filling in holes that the player could fall into and get stuck
  • fixed gamerule dodaylightcycle and made it "=true"
  • all pokemon centers heal you and make the chime when you heal the pokemon in game

  • removed a wild battle that would teleport you into a block

new gameplay mechanic - HUGE : 08/25/2014 11:55:24 pm8/25/14

  • i introduced a never before seen mechanic into my pokemon map. it is the first of its kind and i am sure that other maps will do something similar to it. there is now a reason to go to pokemon centers because that is the only place you can recover your hp. you will no longer "regenerate" your health. this makes potions and golden apricorns much more useful. it will also give the exhuasting feeling of wondering how far it is to the next to city to "heal" your pokemon

  • wonderful noteblock music added to skyarrow bridge! it took a lot of work because i had to hide the noteblocks and redstone as well as making it play as the player goes along the bridge. (much easier to experience in-game than to explain it)
  • route 4 done
  • added in darumaka, watchog, purrloin, darmantitan (zen), and liepard
  • 40% of nimbasa city built and noteblock music for that city is done 
  • castelia city, find the 2 dancers challenege is done
  • changed starter chest items

  • wild battles now have a chance to let you "capture" that pokemon

Does it absolutely need to be 1.8?
On route 1, the wild Purrloin thing is broken. It's missing redstone. Idk if there are others like this.

I would recommend creating your own version of a pokemon map since this map is incomplete and doesn't work at all with pixelmon.

Which buildings did you use? Skyarrow bridge, pokemon lab, generic houses? Just make sure that credit is clearly shown and it should be ok.
I think this map and your Johto map(once it's updated) should use the new block model format. For one, you could make the pokemon 3D, so when the player is holding them it looks like it's actually a pokemon and not a sprite(and keep in mind I have built block models before...I still don't have enough experience to make models for this map, but I do know that most of this stuff I'm suggesting is possible). I also think that you could use 3D block models in the johto map to make pokemon follow you! I invision an invisible armor stand(wearing a block model on it's head, of course), riding an invisible, invulnerable wolf that's tamed to follow you. It would make both a nice astethic feature and an automatic battle system that doesn't require you to fight yourself most of the time(you'll still have to use your current pokemon to fight when the wolf is busy fighting another mob)

That's all I have to suggest. Please, PLEASE use block models if you can, even if you have to learn .json or get someone else to make the models for you. Thank you.

Update Progress

  • nimbasa city gym puzzle and battle is "complete" but i will defintely test it before i find out that it's completely broken
  • chargestone cave is complete, hopefully the quality is decent, it tried to make it similar to pokemon black and challenging (assuming that it is your first time encountering the cave and have no clue where to go)
  • route 6 is complete. what's special about this route is that i also tried to add a lot of elevation so it actually feels like you are playing on a real environment instead of a map with flat routes everywhere (it also has a cool waterfall)
  • driftveil city is almost complete except driftveil gym
  • desert resort is almost complete, excluding the underground tower (forgot the name of it)
i will try to release an update after i finish mistralton city and all the previous areas, including desert resort and driftveil gym (i plan to skip building mistralton gym yet since the player cant actually access it yet until they reach twist mountain and defeat cheren

The save system is infuriating. You can save while standing on all blocks, but if your standing on some leaves or inside a block, Minecraft is too dumb to figure out where you saved, and you spawn back at Nuvema Town. This is infuriating for players like me who are trying to speedrun the map. Please find another method, or at least let the player turn on an autosaving feature. Thank you.

Not a problem with my save system. It's a glitch with minecraft that might get patched in the next update. I know it will be hard to wait for the next minecraft update but it's a lot harder than you think to create "an autosaving feature."

If you have any command block contraptions or redstone creations that accomplishes that feel free to tell me.
Yes, lets just wait for a glitch thats been around since 1.4.1 to be fixed instead of actully fixing the spawnpoint system.

I would love to fix that but as of now there is no easy alternative. 

But of course, it seems that you have something brilliant in mind..

I acknowledge this bug but I don't think the original spawnpoint system where every city would work because of the evolution system. When you reach lv 17 you get teleported inside a room and there doesn't seem to be a way minecraft can record your current exact coordinates to send you back to the spot where you reached lv 17. That's why I added in manual saving.
Actully, you just gave me a brillient idea for the save system:

Each time the player press the save button, an invisible and invulnerable squid named "Pointdexter" gets teleported to the player, and if theres a block of air two blocks below the player, it gets replaced with a barrier block and the player gets teleported under it(this way the player cannot cheat across ravines) When the player dies, they respawn in the center a 20x20 room. Because of the way spawnpoints work, they will spawn anywhere in this 20x20 area. The rest is pretty straightforward: Every living entity that spawns in this room gets teleported to the room to the squid. As for the evoultion, I personally think its much easier to just clear the player's inventory of Snivy/Tepig/Oshawatt  and give the player a Servine/Tepig/Dewott, but if you really can't do that kind of redstone, or you just want the dramatic "Your pokemon is evolving" scene, you would make it the exact same thing that you already have and the exact same thing as the save system I just suggested, but the squid would be named "Evolander" and the player would just straight up be teleported to the squid once the evolution is done.

i know about the issue of the pokemon hp glitch. in fact most minor glitches you find, i am aware of but i decide to fix it later. i would have to delay the 1.8 update or release the map with a small issue.

the map is for 1.8 only now
playing in 1.7 will probably break the map or make the experience unpleasant,

also it is important that you remember to manually save or you will end up at nuvema town when you die.

Ok, I have played all your adventure maps you have ever made (All of them), and their has always been something missing. But in this map, YOU FIXED IT! It is great, has what the other maps was missing. However, the wild battles do get a slight bit repetitive, if their is any way to change them up sometimes it would be nice.

Also, as a fan I hope you don't go and cheap us like you did for so long in johto and like you are still doing in hoenn without an elite four. That is really cheap and unfair to everyone who plays the map. I hope you do what you are doing now and regularly update it and finish it soon.

Either way, great map so far.

johto has an elite four. I added it a few months ago. I might change the wild battles in future routes but i will add a option to buy "repels" to skip wild battles ;)

i really want to build the elite four for unova. i have so many ideas for it. im tempted to just build it now
Considering you use seperate rooms for each interior instead of craming in into a 10x10 space like you used too,you actully COULD build the Elite Four now. You just won't be able to enter it.

And when you say "used to" do you mean my Hoenn map that I created 3 years ago? I hope you aren't refering to my old kanto or hoenn map because it's quite OBVIOUS that I don't build that way anymore. 

If you were referring to Johto, then you must have confused that map with another map because the Johto elite four had a comfortable area to battle in.

ok so I love the map but theres a few problems.
first off, the TPs sometimes teleport you to bad areas, i understand that they tp you straight up after a battle but sometimes that takes you out of the map
also, ( i just beta lenora and got the dragonite skull) what do I DO with the skull? i clicked on her again but she just rebattled me...

oh also, in that city the pokecenter doesn't heal you, nor in castelia city, i just spawned in a few health pots cause it didnt work

when you get the skull in pinwheel forest, you are supposed to go to the next city. the map will detect it in your inventory when you reach the area near skyarrow bridge. i know some wild battles put tp in the wrong places. (i played the map myself and found a lot of bugs)
