_About the project_

The Infinity Project is the result of years of research and experiment in the field of self-replicating technologies. They are made of modular machines capable of replicating themselves, forming a dynamic cluster that achieves the end goal. The target of the Infinity Project is artificial terraforming; it aims at creating an engine capable of pure creation, which can grow, reorganize the surrounding space and generate entire cities and worlds.
Capsules called Seeds are capable of originating and controlling the terraforming Process, syncing all the machine's elements planet-wide.
The pool of blueprints of all the assets used by the machine during the Process of creation is called Infinity Matrix.
All the buildings you see have been collected through the Procedural Metropolis Contemporary Edition project contest, and where participants were asked to build a series of 6 small houses. Accepted submissions have been integrated into a larger machine.

The end result isn't a simple city, but a machine that everybody in the community can use in their worlds or servers to automatically generate cities and towns with community builds included! In the generated worlds, the roads will grow towards the unknown and the buildings will rise to reach the sky.
No two cities will be the same, and each one has no limits to its extension.

It's time to explore these new metropolises, which are always different and growing.
What others built here may last forever in many worlds, servers and across the actual globe.

_About the buildings_

The city is composed by 342 different types of buildings from me and other 56 other talented builders.
All the builders have been selected between the participants of the Procedural Metropolis Contemporary Edition project contest and have been assigned a certificate of admission with unique serial number.

Building modifications
Several buildings might have been slightly modified from their original form due to various reasons.
These are the main actions performed on each submission:
  • Defined road attachment points: all builds that have regular car entrances (like parking lots for example) have been programmed to interface correctly with the city's road network.
  • Checked stability of water pools: sadly, in 1.15, when water is placed through structure block or via command there is the risk that it glitches through stairs or slab if they're at the boundary of the pool. This may cause catastrophic flooding during the city generation Process. I had to hunt down all the possible water bugs and fix them individually with various workarounds.
  • Eventually modified some borders to integrate better the buildings in the urban tissue (in case of doors that couldn't be opened or to correctly match roads with road entrances). Only in extreme cases, 95% of the build are fine already.
  • Fixed complex systems like flying machines or rollercoasters so that they're placed correctly and functioning by structure blocks
  • Fixed small eventual mistakes in case the will of the builder is clear (for example a single missing piece of glass in a big window or a missing single block on a regular floor texture etc...)

I feel like ive broken this map in every way possible...



First: somehow flooded out the entire thing by just watching it generate



Second: deleted all the files for the buildings causing it to just have blinking in and out of existence green blocks



Third: blew up the seed causing it to completely stop generation, then blowing up all the redstone underneath



for the fourth i plan on spawning in two seeds at once on different levels

Oh well, it's very easy to break it; it's making it work instead that required months of work.

About the blinking green blocks: if a house file is missing or corrupted my machines will try to find a replacement of the same size. The machines are scanning the Infinity Matrix trying to get around the damage you caused, but since you deleted the entire database, they will continue forever.

i decided to go ahead and completely blow up the seed and the pyramid it generates with tnt in the middle of city generation....





the city didnt like that much

Sure! All the 6 builds of your submission are included, the amusement park can be also seen in the trailer.
I also sent you the admission certificate shortly after the end of the contest :-)
