This was the starter map of the Maze Making Contest! With this machine have been created more than 40 playable maps! You can play them here! |
MazeMaker Deluxe is a machine that will easily allow you to generate and customize your mazes or challenge tracks!
Creating a maze is very quick, just follow these steps:
STEP 1 Build your templates, the elements that will compose your maze. Build your walls, corridors, traps, challenges and more! Up to 20 slots available, size of 16x32x16 blocks.
STEP 2 Draw the maze layout in the map chests. Each material represents a template. [Interface Packs available]
STEP 3 Compile the maze! Just press the button and the machine will build everything for you. |
Improve your templates later or redraw the layout in seconds, MazeMaker will take care of everything.
Even small changes can lead to great improvements!
Start by creating templates that serve your purpose, then play with them and try to create something.
When you find inspiration you can just add details, style, or features to your templates and update your creation by just pressing a button.
The building area is fixed at 18x12 chunks, divided in 4 sectors of 9x6 chunks. Each sector is mapped by a double chest, fill the chest with the building items (1 per slot, no empty slots) to place the respective templates in the maze.
build your templates in the plots on the side, whatever you build in the areas will be placed in the maze, each plot is marked by the respective material to use in the chest map.
The maze area is framed by a 1 chunk border for the external wall. The wall is composed by 4 special templates: wall segment, entrance, exit and corner that can be customized to give a unique look to your creation. Entrance and exit must be on the opposite long walls, but their position can be customized. (18 positions each) There are teleports between the control room and entry/exit; they will be adjusted automatically to the locations you chose for your entrance and exit. |
Every building material you put in the chest map is paired to a template, but there are up to 20 of them, and it may become difficult to remember what you built in your plots when drawing your layout.
This is why I created interface packs! These are normal resource packs who are capable of changing the appearance of the building materials only in the user interface to make your layout more readable.
Use the one that suits more what you have in mind!
I made 4 packs:
PLAIN INTERFACE Building materials are displayed as flat and the grid between the items is hidden. Perfect for simple projects and for starting experimenting with templates.
NUMERIC INTERFACE Similar to the plain interface, but with numbered tiles. This allows you to easily make a numbered list of your templates, to keep as reference when drawing your layouts.
SYMBOLIC INTERFACE Generic symbols are associated to the building materials (wall, key, door, objective etc.)
DIRECTIONAL INTERFACE Essential for advanced applications, where templates may contain oriented corridors, turns, junctions etc. Just build your junctions in the corresponding slot and your work will be easier in phase of layout design. |
Here are a couple of examples of mazes/challenges generated by MazeMaker Deluxe
The Challenge Maze This example represents what I call as a "binary" maze: templates have no orientation and only one primary function: wall, path, trap etc. Many special templates are also included, like doors, lava pits, mini-mazes, bridges, parkour bridges, timed doors, traps and more! The Symbolic Interface Pack is used here. | The Tree Maze This example represents instead what I call as "directional" maze: template contents have an orientation and need to be associated correctly in order to make a path. This example includes a huge park with wooden catwalks suspended between its trees and also a couple of hidden tree houses. The Directional Interface Pack is used here. |
The Meltrock Fortress Built over a deadly lava lake in forgotten times, this cursed castle instills fear in all the inhabitants of the valley. Nobody knows whose mansion was it or if it has always been like this, and all the explorers who tried to find a way in never came back. Are you really sure you want to go there? Good luck. |

Or it can be only used for this contest.
Just give credit and it's fine :-)
Also, if you cite me in the description with "@Gheppio" I'll be notified, and I can put your map in a special collection of all the mazes made with MazeMaker, so that it will be easier for people to find them all (only if you want)
I may have noticed this challenge too late in the game.
