For once I tried something new and built a Gothic church or more precisely a Gothic chapel. Motivated by the contest of Ohhithere1543 and my desire to try a completely new architectural style, I built the Sainte-Chapelle de Vincennes.
I think the end result has turned out all right but that's it. Many details could not be realized as I first imagined them. In particular, the ribbed vaults and window fronts are just one giant compromise. The problem was that I wanted to realize the building in a 1:1 scale. I managed to do this, but only at the expense of the look.

The church itself is the palace chapel of the Château de Vincennes and its construction was started in the late 14th century in the Gothic Flamboyant style. Delayed by the Hundred Years' War, the chapel was finally completed in 1552.

Ah, if you'd asked me, I would've provided a version of my resource pack that works with Chunky :P

Here's some feedback from me:

For it's size it's incredibly detailed. As Shel mentioned, the stone bricks are a little odd (upside-down stairs would have been more successful). I think a little more tinkering with slabs and stairs would have gotten you a more effective tracery on the front. As for the window fronts, as you mentioned, I personally like to alternate walls and fences to get nice non-connecting thin elements. I would have also used a different color terracotta (light or dark grey) for the roof. Otherwise, a fantastic rendition!

No worries about chunky, so long the red sandstone isn't red I am content^^

Thanks for your detailed feedback! I really wanted to make the 1:1 scale work so had to go with those weird 4 wide windows but otherwise yea. I could have done a much better job probably. I for sure learnt alot, after all it was the first time ever I tried something gothic ;)

Beautiful. Lose the stone brick lines on the sides though. :)

Thank you!
I put them there to represent.. well.. something, not even sure what to call it. Sainte-Chapelle has some elevated parts all around the walls (for reference) and I couldn't figure out how to replicate it with stairs or slabs without thickening the walls too much. So I decided to just use a different block there.
Any idea how to replicate it more elegantly?

If you're talking about the parapets on the buttresses, I suggest you put a stair instead of a full block there. This probably sounds weird because it's extruding out, but try it, that strategy usually works for me.

Thank you! I will try that and see if it works out.
"parapets on the buttresses" I also have to learn more terminology^^

Not parapets, those are short protective walls on a balcony or walkway. These are more likely to be called stringcourses

Just googled it, thanks.
I probably gonna order some books about more modern architecture. There is more going on than I always thought.

I agree with this. I usually use a stair, because it gives roughly the same impression without being too obstrusive
