This is the next step in my city building endeavors. The city of Drakensberg. It will be a city that tries to be more than a collection of random skyscrapers. Instead, it will have a focus on greater city planning such as highway's and decorated roads and boulevards, parks and plazas, boroughs and suburbs. The city will be on an island that has mountains and hills with a good amount of flat land but the city will not be like most Minecraft cities in that it will be built on hills and conform to the terrain rather than flatten it all.

Current progress includes a rough but nearly finished cut of the island map (shape and mountains are finished but forest and detailed erosion is still in progress), a 5 lane double-decker highway bridge leading from the mainland to the island and the beginning construction of the CBD (Central Business District) as well as some minor road infrastructure.

The map was made using WorldPainter
The buildings are made with help from World Edit.

Dont forget an airport or at least a port since it looks like its an island and it needs to be accessed somehow.

Good thinking, I already have an area designated to be an airport and a shipping port (both are on the mainland though). As of now, the bridge is the only official connection to the outside world.

That cable-stayed bridge in the background bothers me so much

If you think there is a way I can improve it, I would love to hear it.

I suggest having the bridge as a smooth arch instead of having whatever the bridge is like right now (don't know how to describe)

Might be a good idea, I'll stick it on my list of things to do. I've got a lot to design and that would be a large overhaul. It's hard to design something over 800 blocks long with a smooth curved arc. Hence why I settled with the flattening out of the road.

Ok, cool. I'm good with bridges and arches of course, so if you want some assistance, I am free to help.

Thanks for the offer, I'll let you know if I could use some assistance. Though, I'm trying to keep this project a personal endevor.
