The Hunt is a PvP map for Minecraft. A group of adventurers goes astray in the middle of a swamp. A fierce storm begins and their draught pigs run away, leaving the wagon immobile. Fortunately, despite the heavy mist, a mansion seems to be in view...

Coords (if you spawn on some remote place for some reason):
x 394
y 61
z 480

Rules
Objective:
- Hunter: Kill all the survivors
- Survivors: Survive for 15 minutes

- You may NOT destroy or place any blocks.

- You may not leave the fenced area of manor grounds (except for the small area around the wagon).

- Whoever dies, becomes a hunter (i. e. his objective changes).

Once the survivors and the Hunter are ready, all the survivors get teleported to the wagon and may start looking for useful equipment. The Hunter has to wait for 1 minute, after which he gets teleported to the tomb and may start chasing the survivors down. The objective of the survivors is to survive for 15 minutes (not to kill the hunter, which is virtually impossible, the timer begins after the initial minute without the Hunter being present). The objective of the hunter is to kill all other players. Whoever dies, respawns in the graveyard and becomes a Hunter (and his new objective is thus to slay his former teammates). Survivors may take the contents of any chest they find and use them to stay alive. Hunters may NOT loot any chests! It is forbidden to leave the outer fence (not even with ender pearls), if you leave accidentaly (badly thrown ender pearl), return back immediately. You may not place or break any blocks. Hunters must wear their armour all the time, so they can be recognized. The game ends either when there are some survivors left after 15 minutes (= survivors win), or when the hunters kill all the survivors (= hunters win).

Note! Don't camp... You can just crouch in some dark corner the whole time and hope to stay unnoticed, but where's the fun in that?

Recommended
- Texture Pack: John Smith
- Difficulty: Hard
- Brightness: Moody
- Aggressive Mobs: Off
- Gamemode: Adventure

All the recommended options are already pre-set. You can change any of them in the Control room, however, this may break the map.

Miscellaneous
You can post ideas for the signs on graveyard tombstones in the comments (either funny, or creepy). If I like them, I will put them on the tombstones in some of the future updates of the map, so you can contribute to creating the map :) I'm very picky though, so don't get offended if I do not pick your sign. The epitaph must fit on 1-2 MC signs (i. e. max 120 characters - 15 on each line). Please, be original.

Loking for talented pixel artists to create paintings! As you surely know, one of the features of MC 1.4 update is the possibility of hanging the maps on the wall. This allows the maps to act as paintings. Since I'm not a very good at creating pixel art myself, I offer you to PM me your works and if I like them, I will use them in the map and give you credit in the description (i. e. advertise your submission). The theme of the pictures should either contribute to the overall horror atmosphere of the build (gallows, graveyards...) or resemble paintings characteristic for mansions (bowls of fruit, portraits...). It has to fit on a new map format introduced in 1.4.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Feel free to post any suggestions in the comments, I'd appreciate some feedback.

If you like the project, diamond is always appreciated. Thanks!

If you record a video of this map, please, put a link to this page in the description. Thanks!

Current Version of the Map: 1.1.0
Compatible: Minecraft 1.4

Texture pack used in the pictures: John Smith
I have NOT created the texture pack.

6 Update Logs

Update #6 : by BjornToBeWild 06/20/2013 10:03:03 pmJun 20th, 2013

Version 1.2.0 Work in Progress!
- None of the listed changes are included in the current download file. They will be released as a part of the 1.2 update of the map.

- Moved to a separate map (download size reduced, everything will now be conveniently close, allows for easier changes of the map in the future)
- Fixed a great deal of things that were messed up by the map transfer (such as missing lava / water, broken hallways). Deleted a lot of unnecessary blocks (again, this won't have any immediate effect on a player, but will serve for easier future updates). Fixed quite a few other things.
- Major terraforming
- More fixes and polishing (added platforms from which you can trade with the villagers in the prison (which was previously virtually impossible due to water pulling you back), the water flow leading to the sewers fixed so that it no longer slows you down, some aesthetic changes, etc.)
- New area added: The wine cellar (accessible from the kitchen)
- The kitchen changed (expanded, most of the chests' contents redistributed, aesthetic changes...) + added a new area: The cold storage room (accessible from the kitchen)

After almost a year this is still my favorite map. The interior design, the furniture, the jumping puzzles, the library, everything about it is so well done, the yard and sewers and the uh interrogation rooms are just fantastic, it is all very immersive and thats not even touching on how much fun it is to PvP in. I personally feel that this map is one of the best that Minecraft has to offer and I hope you and your team are working on something new!

Nah, there's nothing wrong with playing a single player game ;) Even though many people would argue otherwise, it's not that different from watching a game of football on TV alone (in other words the thing which those "sociable" people, who generally slander gamers, do).

Hey Bjorn for a new adventure map of mine I am making a horror map and needed a haunted mansion to start off with. Couple of questions on this map:
Firstly may I use it?(Just the mansion not any other parts of the map. I will give credit under "Mansion builder')

Secondly, does it have any redstone in it?

Thanks and hope to hear back soon.

Hello there,
I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I'd rather you didn't use my map to create a different project. I'm perfectly fine with people using the map on their servers to play it as intended, but when they want to incorporate it in their own maps, it's kinda an exploitation of my work.
There is some simple redstone circuitry in the map, but nothing too elaborate, I'm not very good with redstone :P
