The Ursa-Class Gunship is a heavily armed and armored ship capable of both defensive and offensive purposes. It began manufacture in C.E. 2341, and has since become a staple of the U.N.A.F. Navy.

The Ursa was developed to carry the Class-7 Fully-Automatic High-Explosive Cannon, a powerful weapon with heavy ammunition. The Class-7 is capable of destroying much larger opposing ships, making the Ursa ideal for heavier ship-to-ship combat. To prevent the heavy recoil of the Class-7 from damaging the structure of the ship, the Ursa requires a bulky and massive design. Unfortunately, this high mass hinders maneuverability and prevents the Ursa from being effective in dogfights against smaller fighters. Luckily, the Ursa is heavily armored to fend off attacks from smaller opponents.

The Ursa-Class is one of the smallest ships in the U.N.A.F. to feature living quarters, designed to accommodate a crew of four for up to two weeks. This is partially due to the ship being too large to be placed in all but the most massive hangars, preventing the crew from living in a larger frigate or capital ship. When it needs to dock with another ship for resupply, crew transfer, or other purposes, the Ursa utilizes the U.N.A.F. Universal Dock located at the rear of the ship.
