Scale Model of USS Fletcher, in her 1942 configuration.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Model used for videos on personal channel.
USS Fletcher, lead ship of the 175 destroyers of her class, served for the United States Navy between 1942 and 1947, then again between 1949 and 1969.
Her class was the most produced destroyer class of the war, designed in response to unsatisfactory performance of previous classes. Fletcher, along with her sister ships, participated in many major operations of the second World War, and continued performing during the cold war.
After her reactivation, Fletcher was re-designated as an escort destroyer, specialising in anti-submarine roles.
During her service life she received refits to accommodate modern systems and weaponry. This model depicts her in her original 1942 configuration.
Fletcher's career concluded in 1972, when she was sold for scrap. Some of her sister ships remain as museum ships to this day.
