Model: Ōzu Castle
Ōzu Castle was originally built by Utsunomiya Toyofusa in the late Kamakura period (1331).
It was built on a small hill by the Hirogawa River.
The river became a natural moat and the castle was terraced, surrounded by a moat.
Subsequently the castle passed into the hands of several clans and lords.
In 1617, Katō Sadayasu, the new lord from the Yonago region, took possession of the castle
and made it renovated.
In 1888 during the Meiji period, the main tower was dismantled due to its derelict state,
although the two yagura connected by corridors were spared.
The current Dungeon is a reconstruction dating from 2004, based on plans and photos
from before its destruction in 1888.
