Hello, gamers. Some of you have been wondering what exactly there is to do on MLMC's Minecraft server. Multiple times. When the same question is asked thirty-seven times in succession, it gets a little old. Thus, I present to you an Unofficial MLMC Minecraft Server Frequently Asked Questions Document.

IP Address: 178.162.147.99
Port: 25565
Note: Do not try and combine the Address and the IP Address[/warn]

I. Starting Out
Q.) Why can't I build on this server?
A.) MLMC's Minecraft server has build rights enabled. This means that admins must grant you the privilege to build and destroy block. Thankfully, this is ridiculously easy to attain; heck, half the battle is finding this site.

All you need to do is register for these forums right here with your Minecraft username. Your name on this forum must exactly match your Minecraft account name. Once that's done, notify an admin or a moderator, and they'll run some sort of script thingy and get you rights within a minute or two. You can register by clicking this link.

[error='Q.) Okay, that's done. What are the rules?']
A.) The /rules command has an entirely exhaustive list, but it boils down to:

  • Don't mess with other people's stuff, and
  • No really, don't be a dick.
  • Don't be a dick,

The staff does take paraphrased rule 2 above seriously, and they can tell when you're doing things you're not supposed to be doing (like punching a hole through the railroad, or rooting around in chests you aren't supposed to be). Most often, they'll ban or jail you first and ask questions if they feel like it. That said, the staff will usually have a reason to ban/jail you; they don't go around banning at random.
[/error]

Q.) Okay, now what?
A.) Now, you go craft your mines and such things. There are several public mines in the server (though I couldn't tell you where they are). If you're more a builder than a miner, you can go find an open plot of land and build to your heart's content, etc. You also might want to join a town to get more protection from grief and meet new people.

Q.) What kits do you have?
A.) This server does not have kits. You'll start the same way as you do in single-player Minecraft: punching trees.

Q.) Can a mod give me [insert item here]?
A.) No, items are not handed out.

II. Established People
Q.) Can I lock my chests on this server?
A.) Yup! This server has the LWC plugin installed. The most basic command you'll want to lock chests is /cprivate - this will prevent anyone that isn't you from opening that chest. You can also protect signs, dispensers, doors, and furnaces in this manner. And you do this locking by smacking them with left mouse button (Currently CreativeMode will detroy signs with text on them :| )

Q.) Is PVP enabled?
A.) Yes, however, it is not allowed outside of the PVPworld, unless both players agree to it. This goes on a trust system, you are expected to not PVP people, and you WILL be jailed and/or banned for PVPing people.

Q.) How do I start a town/guild/clan?
A.) Just start building a town. There is no official way to start a town, but just building one can attract new citizens and in no time you will be recognized as an official town.

Q.) Do you have money on this server? What is it used for?
A.) Yes, there's a money system. You can use /money to check how much you have. Your money can be used for the in-game shops and various other things.

Q.) Why can't I use a water bucket/lava bucket/flint & steel?
A.) The short version: Griefers ruined it for everyone.
The long version: Griefers ruined it for everyone, and the staff wants to ensure that only trustworthy(ish) people can use these items. VIPs can use water and lava buckets; if you're lucky and ask nicely, a VIP might be able to help you out. However, only staff can use flint & steel. If you're looking to go to the Nether, there's a portal near the spawn on the server.

Q.) What's a VIP?
A.) A VIP is a person that has helped out the welfare of the server in a very significant manner. The most common way is by donating to keep the server running. You are not, at any point, obligated to donate anything to the server. More information about the server VIP program is here.

Q.) Can I get to the Nether on this server?
A.) Yes, the first right once outside the initial spawn room will take you to a portal room with portals to multiple worlds on the server.

III. Getting Around
Q.) Okay, where is everything on this server?
A.) Good question! If you're looking to build something, pick a random direction and start walking until you find a place you like and isn't otherwise occupied. If you aren't sure if someone's using a piece of land, then ask. If you're looking to be part of a town, then head on over and ask to join!

Q.) Where is [Insert Town Name Here]?
A.) There is a portal in the portal room that leads to a hub in which you can access all official towns.
Q.) Is there a map of the server?
A.) Not at this time but soon we'll add DYNMAP.

Q.) Where are the shops?
A.) Some NPC shops are setup around the server, and the voucher shop is down the walkway straight ahead at spawn. Other than that we use the virtual shop plugin which can be accessed with /vs .

Q.) Can I teleport around on this server?
A.) Yes, but with restrictions.
First of all, you can set a home that you can teleport to at any time. Use /home set to set that home, and /home to return there.
You can also teleport to another player with the command /tpa [playername]; this is, however, contingent on them accepting your request with the /tpaccept command.
You can also return to the spawn point at any time by using the command /spawn.
VIP's have the ability to use /warp to go to predetermined locations.

Q.) Farking minecarts, how do they work?
A.) This server has the Minecart Mania plugin installed. All you need to do is place a minecart on a track, get in the minecart, and punch it to go or stop. You'll occasionally come to a stop automatically on some parts of the track; either punch to select a direction if needed or punch again to go if you haven't come to your stop yet.

IV. I Fought the Law - Regarding Bans
Q.) Why did I just get banned?
A.) Odds are, you know exactly what you did wrong. But in the event you aren't sure, this server has the MCBans plugin installed. You can search for your Minecraft username at "Complaints" Forum and it will come up with a reason for you.

Q.) I was wrongly banned! What do I do?
A.) First of all, don't panic. Mistakes happen. The staff's only human, after all.
Secondly, this board has an entire forum dedicated to dealing with bans. Make a thread there explaining your situation, the facts, and what you believe the error to be. One of the staffers will swing by and reply to you as soon as they're able. In the meantime, go outside, read a book, play singleplayer, or something to pass the time. The staff will either apologize and unban you, or explain their side of the story.

Q.) I was banned and I'm very sorry for what I did. Can I be unbanned?
A.) The unbanning of people is entirely at the discretion of the staff. It depends on your circumstances - someone who's been around for a while and who got banned for being a little too curious about chests will have a better shot at returning that someone who logged on and immediately started pickaxing the spawn point. That said, it never hurts to ask.

V. Miscellania
Q.) Who are the admins and moderators?
A.)A list of the server staff can be located at the bottom right of the website. Otherwise admins will have [Admin] preceding their names, and mods will have [Moderator] in front of their name.

Q.) Can I be a mod?
A.) Short version: No.
Long version: Hell no.
Helpful version: The staff will usually choose new admins and moderators based on how much they help out the server. They will not give out staff positions just for asking nicely. Actions speak louder than words here - if you help out other players and are generally a decent person, the staff will take notice. More often than not, though, moderation is like Fight Club in that the first two rules are you do not talk about it.

Q.) Who's responsible for this FAQ?
A.) That'd be me - KrazeyFire. The reason I wrote this is because 1.) I am easily irritated by repeat questions on the server, and 2.) it's 2:30 in the morning and I'm bored.

Q.) Do I need to post on the forum at all?
A.) Nope, but it'd be nice!
