Hello fellow scrollers of PMC
Okay , so as the title says , this is my opinon on banners. Please keep in mind I am a very busy lady and haven't got much time to explore 1.8.
So banners, lets talk.
I was recently on my favorite server, and since I had just started playing again from a long break because of my busy life , I was suprised when I saw a few new items such as the armor stand and banners. Once I found these items I instantly searched them up on minecraft wiki. After a bit fo research and playing around with them , I came up with a conclusion. Yay or Nay? Nay. I realize that banners are for decor and there is no real purpose , but really minecraft? I could think up a list of things that could actually be useful to be added. I really don't think that banner was the best choice to put in. Whoa and stop right now. If you think i'm trying to bash minecraft you got it wrong. Just making a point. Everyone has their opinons and mine is this isn't the best thing they could have added. I know that mojang has a great developers team , and they are smart. but banners? Why not something useful , sorry now im kinda just repating what I have said. Blah Blah Blah..
But!
I refuse to lie and I do think that , the patterns are cool and its a amazing decor item. I will probably end up living it and giving it a Yay for decor. Just the usefulness turns me off. Good job Jeb.

It would be cool for army cinematics and just a cool cosmetic. I totally hear what you are saying though, and as much as I love the decorations and such, I think something else could have been in the update in their place.

But half of the beauty of minecraft is precisely that--the beauty. There are fantastic builds out there that make use of these kinds of materials. The more options you have to create, the better. Even if it's with something that is technically "useless."
The 1.8 update added a lot of things that really changed gameplay and design. Like the new commands, doors that retain the wood they are made of, button placement, etc.
I agree that I didn't want everything they gave us in this 1.8 update. And banners are an oddly specific decor item that don't just go with everything. But I appreciate that Mojang is continuing to even work on Minecraft. Few games get constantly updated like this by developers unless it's packaged as DLC. And then you're charged for it. :[
