Does Minecraft take place in the future or the past?

Minecraft most likely takes place in the past. Plastic and metal are not available, small villiages are scattered everywhere, and you have to hunt for food. You have to build your own house, and citys, money, and factories do not exist. All of that currently exists so Minecraft doesn't take place in modern day and definitely not the future. You might think the future because there are some stuff in Minecraft that do not exist such as brewing stands, potions, monsters, iron golems, and some other fantasies. But overall, Minecraft takes place in the past.

Does Minecraft take place in the past or present? A question that technically does not have an answer because it is misunderstood.

The last sentance of the story which is highlighted in blue means it summarizes basically the whole thing. And answers the main question. (in case you don't want to read all of it although to understand it better you should read all of it)

That may surprise you. But the question is completely misunderstood. Most people think Minecraft takes place on earth so that's how I answered it above, but it really doesn't. A Minecraft world is a box, not a sphere, and it is the size of Neptune. No matter their differences, Minecraft may seem realistic but as long as monsters, potions, and portals exist, it is not realistic. Minecraft worlds are not Earth; they are Minecraft worlds. And Minecraft worlds create their own past and future. They are not Earth. Different things happen in Minecraft worlds than on Earth, so it is hard to say if Minecraft takes place in the past or future because this question is reffering to the past and future of Earth. If Minecraft were more realistic and more like Earth, this question would be easier to answer because you could determine what time period the world is like. But with many un-thought of fantasies (monsters, portals, potions, etc.) Minecraft is very different from earth and all its' time periods because although factories, phones, plastic, and lots of things don't exist which makes Minecraft take place in the past, fantasies like monsters and potions throw you into thinking it takes place in the future.

This question is reffering to the past or present of Earth and Minecraft worlds are not earth and by saying does Minecraft take place in the past or future? That question basically does not make sense because Minecraft worlds are Minecraft worlds, not Earth, not even that similar to Earth, so how could it take place in the past or present of earth?
