Herobrine is the subject of a community-made (Creepy story). He is a human entity, but with white eyes, and often seen as a dead miner.
Herobrine can have two variations the stalker version and the miner version.
stalker version : Herobrine stalks the player, disappearing if approached.
miner version : Herobrine is a vengeful miner that tries to ensnare the player in traps, presumably to steal their items.
In all versions, Herobrine is a human ghost entity.

MinerMrChris: My opinion is that he is not real and he never may be real, because if you open up Minecraft.jar as a archive, and find the Mob file and click on it you will notice there is no "Herobrine mob". This a true fact found by me, and may never be changed.The only way your ever going to find him is with a mod or changing the zombie.png with a pic of herobine like most other idiots who fake videos.

But thank you for bringing this back up so they may finally accept defeat and realise herobrine does not exist.

If it is added then fine, all this Bs about herobrine existing will stop, but right now the lack of herobrine in the .jar file means we have the right to fight and prove every "OMG I SEEEEZ HEROBRINZ" post wrong..
And I think you will find that Notch is no longer project leader on minecraft ( Thank the gods )
So, saying minecraft is Notch's game is wrong in just about every way.
