Hello! Greenwindu here with an exclusive interview with the creator of the popular texture pack LB Photo Realism - Scuttles! This interview was done a while ago, I'm make some more soon and post them here for you guys.

Ok, questions.

1. When did you first start playing Minecraft, and why?
I first started playing Minecraft about the Fall of 2010. A friend of mine showed me it and I loved the idea of having a world that I could make into my own. This is also what sparked the idea of a texture pack.

2. When and why did you get into texture packs?
My first attempt at making a texture pack had to of happened about 2-3 months after initially playing Minecraft. I took Misa's pack (the first texture pack that I used) and figured that it couldn't be too hard to make my own pack. I was wrong... It took a lot of work.

3. Why do you like making texture packs?
Initially, I really liked making texture packs because it was a great way to brush up on my Photoshop skills. As time progressed, I really enjoyed the thought of someone else in the world is enjoying and seeing the Minecraft world as I wanted to see it. You could also say I enjoyed the ego boost.

4. Which of your texture packs is your favorite, and why?
Out of my texture packs, I would have to say that my favorite is the Photo Realism pack simply because of the sheer amount of time I've put into it.

5. Which individual texture of yours (block, item, mob, etc.) is your favorite and why?

I'd have to say that the stone texture in the Photo Realism pack is by far my favorite individual texture. After going through about 30-40 stone textures and about 20 frustrating hours, I finally created a texture I enjoyed.

6. What does "LB" stand for?
"LB" stands for "Little Beetle". It's the nickname of my girlfriend from when we first started dating. To make a long story short, it was because of a really cheesy gift of a wooden box with a wood beetle that "scuttles" and has a sticker with "I love you" above it.

7. Why do you prefer doing realistic themed textures over other themes?
I prefer the realistic themed textures over other themes because I've always felt that an environment that people know and recognize will allow them to have a greater feel for the atmosphere.

8. Why do you prefer high resolution packs?
I prefer high resolution packs simply because of the amount of detail that I can achieve with it.

9. If you had to choose your favorite texture pack made by someone else, which pack would it be and why?
My favorite texture pack would probably be Ovo's Rustic pack. The first time I tried it I was blown away. It very well put together.

10. Do you make skins as well as texture packs?
Haha, I wish I could also make skins. I have made several attempts at skinning, but it has always ended in disaster. Something about making something that is "alive" sets the perfectionist in me on overload and I just can never get it to look correct.

11. Why do you think your texture pack has been so successful? (It's ok to brag about your mad skills.)
I think it's been successful because I got such dedicated fans. They've been able to assist me in finding all of the bugs/glitches that I can fix to make the pack generally better. Another reason that I would have to say is all of the experience that I had prior to creating the pack so I really didn't go in blind like many other artists.

12. Are you annoyed that you'll have to make a bunch of new textures for 1.8 (That was the time of the interview)?
I'm not really annoyed by the additional textures as it bring a fresh new experience to the Minecraft world. I'm just glad I began creating the textures early on so the amount of textures that I needed to create small with each update.

13. Why did you join the Minecraft forums?
I joined sometime in January when I decided to post the initial release of my pack.

14. What do you do when you play Minecraft?
When I actually play Minecraft instead of testing out the pack, I usually play with my girlfriend and a couple of my buddies on a private server. I really love mining and cave diving.

15. Are you planning on making texture pack tutorials?
Maybe when I retire my pack I'll post some tutorials on how I accomplished many of my textures or even post the .psd that contains all of my layers and effects.

16. Which texture pack artist do you respect (or admire or whatever) the most?
Of all the texture artists, I'd have to say I respect Aageon the most. His work was/is a huge inspiration for my texture pack.

17. What is your view on "remix" packs?
In my opinion, remix packs are something that really should be kept for personal use. It's alright to mix and match the best textures to create a pack of it's own, but so many artists seem to get lost in the chain of distribution and their art is never acknowledged.

18. What do you think of Notch/Mojang?
I really love the idea of the underdog coming out on top so I really have a high respect for Notch/Mojang and all that they have accomplished.

19. Is there anything else you want to say about anything? (This is the last question, so if there's anything you want to say, say it.)
Not really much else to say. It was a great interview that had a few questions I really had to think about which is always great.

Thanks Scuttles for your time and for inspiring loads of other texture artists. You created such an amazing texture pack. Next time we'll have another interview... but is there anyone you want me to interview in particular? Leave a comment, see you next time!
