Oh Hey guys! It's Eli and I'm back! Huh? You were expecting Total Steven Universe Island? Well, the "expected" release date is August 10th or 11th, depends on when I finish it. I nearly have the Majority of it done, so it'll take a while... :P
During that Time Period though, I did manage to notice 2 new Steven Universe Episodes, all connecting for a 30 Minute Special. These Episodes were called "Beta" and "Earthlings". Gee, Enough with the 1 Word Episode Titles already! As far as I expected, I thought Earthlings would deeply connect to Peridot, as she's an alien, but nope. These two Episodes have to do with Jasper and her backstory on why she wants to fuse with someone so much. Here's a little summary if you want spoilers...
There be Spoilers from this point out! :O
Steven and Amethyst just do their own thing, until Amethyst urges for a rematch with Jasper. While they talk about this, the barn looks different as Peridot and Lapis renovated it. Some cute stuff happens, like Peridot reminding us the time she was "imprisoned" in Steven's Bathroom, but Amethyst still wants a Rematch with Jasper. So eventually they go to the "Beta" Kindergarten, where this reveals that Jasper is an Earth Gem just like Amethyst. A rematch ensues where Amethyst can't exactly quite beat Jasper, even after all her training. So Steven and Amethyst fuse to make (ta da!) Smokey Quartz! Eventually Smokey Beats Jasper and her Temporary fusion with a corrupted gem, and they eventually unfuse. From all the hate, Jasper slowly becomes corrupt, but healing eventually fails. While this is happening, Jasper's all like "Well why the heck do you not have your Limb Enhancers!?", and then a cute moment happens where she's like "I like Earth!" and explains it to her. This doesn't work, as she becomes fully corrupt. Eventually Peridot finally uses her Metal Bending Powers to beat Jasper with a Metal Bar, and she eventually poofs. After all that, they go back to the barn, and the rest they say, is history.
This my friends, was the cutest episode I've ever seen! If you have read any of my Steven Universe Articles, or any of my comments, you'll know that any episode with Peridot, bad episode or not, makes an easy 5 star. The "Beta" part of the Episode is more of a Cutesy Episode where Peridot and Lapis watch Season 3 of the show's Interpretation of the Total Drama Series, and they show Steven and Amethyst these Sculptures (Well, basically art) of their memories with them, some of the art even expresses their personality too! It was such a cute part, but then it amps up the Plot with Jasper and Stuff with these corrupted creatures.
More of this is shown in "Earthlings", but there's still come cuteness sprinkled in there! This reveals the Finally Solved Mystery of Smokey Quartz, and Jasper really getting to be the "Main Villain" of the series. It also reveals that Jasper is part of Pink Diamond's Army, not Yellow Diamond's. So much Mysteries, is so little time, like "Who the heck is Pink Diamond!?" and "Is it really possible for Lapis and Peridot to fuse?" (Okay, I'm really hating on that last "Theory" I've mentioned, because I do not want to see them fuse and have it turn out to be ugly. Gee, I sure hope it's pretty cool like Smokey Quartz, because if not, I ain't watching Steven Universe no more!).
This Episode finally reveals why Peridot wants to stay on Earth, ditch Jasper, and not argue about her Limb Enhancers no more. She just says it in the cutest way possible that I can already hear that theme from Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon called "Partner's Jukebox" playing in the background (That song is so cute, and I'd highly give it a listen)! Now that she explained all that, this proves that Total Steven Universe Island takes place in an Alternate Universe where Jasper and Peridot are besties and nothing makes sense.
The only nitpicky part I'd have to point out is when Jasper becomes Corrupted. If Peridot wasn't in this Episode, this would've had that "Space Emperor" or that 2016 Powerpuff Girls Unicorn Episode vibe all over again. Her Corrupted form is fudging ugly, and yes, I understand they made it purposely ugly, but the Centipeedle is more Majestic than that abomination. Jeez, if this happened to Peridot, I'd have to stop watching Steven Universe, rub my eyes clean with soap, throw away any sort of Peridot things away, Watch Atomic Reactor and MunchingOrange again, And finally cancel TSUI for good until Steven Universe got better again. The good news is, that will never happen because the internet loves Peridot am I right? :P
The Verdict:
This Episode kinda was a Mixed Bag of sorts, but was still cute overall. If you want something upbeat and adorable, I recommend the first part (Beta). The second part (Earthlings) is more of a Plot Heavy Episode, so unless you're wanting to see who fuses with who to make Smokey Quartz, or join the thousands of theorists out there, I'd say the second part you can skip if you are literally skipping Season 1 and 2 of Steven Universe and are just watching Season 3 just for the sake of hearing "Peridot is a Funny Character!". I did thankfully catch up on most of the episodes, and I don't mind Spoilers, so I watched both parts. The Rating system is the same as last time, so don't expect anything different (except different ratings for each episode :3)!

Story: 6/10 Eh... There Isn't really a story in the 1st part, except for Amethyst planning to Rematch Jasper so... But it's Cute! :3
Laughs: 10/10 Anything Peridot says makes me say "Daww!" or giggle a lot. Lapis was funny too! x3
Overall Part: 26/30 It's just story that has Flaws, so... :P
Earthlings:
Characters: 7/10 Highly Developed Jasper, but not enough Peridot. Jasper became a bit unlikeable and an easy villain. Also Ugly Corrupt Gems, ew... The ending bit was cute though! :3
Story: 9/10 Easily Gripping, But that point off is only because Peridot had only a tiny impact to it...
Laughs: 4/10 This ain't no laughing matter, it's 15 Minutes of PLOT! I like Plot, but I'm a comedic sort of person and enjoy laughs. Only the ending Peridot bit got me with "Daww!"s, so...
Overall Part: 20/30 Too much Plot and History hurts my already knowledgeable brain. If you like plot, I'd say a higher rating of your liking is nice, but it just doesn't give a laugh if you're expecting a goofier side of Steven Universe. Still cute because of that one bit with Peridot, so...

Don't let the B to C side of the rating fool you, it's still a good episode, I'm just not a Plotty Theorist who overanalyzes everything. I do like reading theories though, I just don't make them unless they make Logical Sense, like that "Too Short to Ride" Episode Hypothesis. You should watch this yourself, just so you can get the actual experience. This is literally Personal Bias, and heck, almost all my blogs are Bias Based, so if you're a Magikarp who likes to Splash and make Arguments, get out. This isn't the place for Magikarps like you to use Splash on just a Harmless Episode. But until then, I'll be working on the highly anticipated Episode of TSUI, "Size Matters". Get Ready Soon-to-be TSUI theorists (If there's any out there), because You only have a few days to make your Theories! But yeah, I've been leaving you hanging for too long... Eli Out!
