The someone else, I’m guessing.
A familiar someone I think, from where though. Ah I see, school. Barely a friend, no surprises there, I didn’t have many friends at school. That one project, we studied in the library I recall. I can’t remember the name, and forgot to respond.
I am Dinosaur, I say, sorry.
There’s nothing to apologise for I don’t think, but I say sorry anyway.
You remember me? He asks.
I remember you, I reply, but forget your name.
Daniel, he laughs, it’s been a while huh.
Indeed, I reply.
His smile feels alien to me, he laughed but at what. He seems happy, good for him, I wish I was that happy.
I’d love to sit with you and catch up, he says.
He smiles at me as the cashier frowns. I can’t remember the last time I had lunch with someone, I wish I felt more excited.
Okay, I answer, that table is free.
He walks to the register as the cashier slams my sandwich down. My avocado is spilling, what a distressed looking sandwich. The cashier is taking his order, another turkey and avocado sub. I’m stood in the way, I should sit. I wander over to the free table, the window looks out onto the dirty sidewalk but I find myself watching the pigeons squabbling.
I jump, he sits down, he laughs again. I wish I found it that funny. He sandwich looks happier than mine, maybe that’s how it is meant to be. He’s looking at me, I can’t read his expression. He looks fearful, eyebrows furrowed. He looks upset and confused, I wonder if I did something wrong.
Dinosaur, he asks, are you doing okay.

Authors notes:
Story over, god I had no idea where to take this. Theres no significant time jump so didn't do a time and emoji since its just continuing from the time of chia's part. Daniel is the only name that came to mind, so sorry for the next writer.
This was a really fun style to write in actually, i enjoyed the sandwich symbolism lmao
This is part three for chias event, the event being here : Chiaroscuro's writing extravaganza
