This is what makes a server unique in my eyes

Many servers nowadays are survival, multi world, minigames, and a lot of the generic servers that we all see today. For me personally I first started my multiplayer adventures on an international server before 1.2.5 that was a general survival server. I then turned to minecapital which was a different type of survival server that had a very welcoming community and dedicated staff. There I first got into staff work and put my time and work into it.

Shortly after minecapital merged with golden gaming things went downhill, and the most recent server I played that had used eventually ditched an idea that I thought made it unique. Many people go to servers that use factions, survival, minigames etc and that I have nothing against, but as prompted by a thread by a person who wanted to make a completely unique server made me think about what makes a server different from the generic survival or factions server.

Nowadays I own a private server and play on a survival server amongst servers such as Hypixel and the Mario Party Server. However my interest in a staple server and minecraft has rather disappeared somewhat. I used to be a ferverent minecrafter who played a lot of minecraft but real life things such as my education has stepped in.

But what makes a server unique still makes my heart tick just that bit faster because I see many 'generic' style servers and I ask myself, what makes this server that I'm seeing different from the average server? Is it the history of the server? The welcoming community? The good connection? The location?

Ultimately what makes a server unique is up to each of us and the staff behind the server, I personally commend the work that server owners and staff go through each and every day to keep their servers fun and interesting enough for people to keep coming on it regularly. Let me know what you think makes a server unique in the comments below :)

Apparently asking questions in a blog is against the rules (not a happy chappy) so it's changed to my view on it

More like this

  Have something to say?

Just so you know -

Asking questions in a blog is perfectly legal. What isn't is posting a blog for the sole intent and purpose of asking a question or requesting a response from the community, as that is the main use of a forum.

An example would be writing a blog titled "how do i make a diamond pickaxe", with the contents being a single sentence asking how to make a diamond pickaxe.

Another example of an illegal blog under that rule would be to, say, post a picture of a build, then ask for feedback. I'm not certain what the original blog was before you changed it, but those are two things that would belong in the forums, not in the blog section. Hope I helped you out a bit.

Thanks for clearing that up for me Chetcat, I wasn't aware of the changes to the blogging section on pmc as I've been quite busy with real life stuff recently. It was originally an open question to prompt discussion but I don't want this blog to be taken down so I changed the purpose of the blog to be one that shows my view on the original topic

Thank you, as disgruntled as I am with some of these blog changes may render making blogs a pain in the backside. The layout of the blog's changed to my own view of what makes a server unique rather than asking other peoples opinions, however people are free to disagree/agree. I try to create healthy discussion with my blogs

I agree that a server can be (and is) unique based on the people who work behind the scenes and help run the show.

I believe a unique server has a concept different from others (well duh) but sticks to and supports their overall goal as a server.

Diamond and sub for you my friend.
