Avoid the Shadows is a survival game mechanic datapack that adds a new mechanic reminiscent of Don't Starve's darkness mechanic.
Staying in the dark corners of the world for too long may attract unwanted attention and action from monsters unseen. While these monsters are native to the Overworld's caves and bodies of water, the darkness can also be toggled to affect the Nether and End.
Good luck out there, and remember to stay in the light!
This pack works best when played with your master volume turned up to an acceptable volume, as all the sounds in this datapack are played through the master audio channel.

The Specifics
- This pack only affects players in Survival or Adventure mode, Creative and Spectator mode players are exempt from it's effects.
- You can stand in the dark (light level 3 or lower) for thirty (30) seconds before you become afflicted. After another thirty (30) seconds if you haven't been been stood in the light (light level 4 or higher) for at least ten (10) seconds after being afflicted with darkness, you will be "caught in the dark".
- The moon's light protects you just as the sun's does, but once you're far enough from their light underground or underwater, you lose that protection.
- All four possible deaths from this pack have unique death messages.
- The effects of this datapack are mandatory in the overworld (both on land and underwater), but you can toggle on and off the effects in the Nether and End (which are both off by default) separately using the built-in config menu. To access this menu simply do /function avoid_the_shadows:config with operator rights.
- This datapack adds 2 new advancements, which can be found under the Adventure tab.

Hotfix for already generated worlds : by Deesaster 11/08/2022 4:42:46 amNov 8th, 2022
Now that the jam's officially over, here's a quick fix to make sure this pack works on worlds that weren't initially generated with Avoid the Shadows. My apologies for the oversight to anyone who tried to use it and it didn't work for them!

thanks (:
The "ats_ShadowTime" scoreboard bascially doesnt increase unless it had an value assigned before (even if that value is just 0) so the pack basically only begins working when you run "scoreboard players set <player> ats_ShadowTime 0"
Also Flynecraft: this doesn't work
Right???
