Chimerabot's Sailboats
By Chimerabot
Overview: This datapack was created for Pleasenotme's Speed-Packing datapack contest. I whipped out this pack in a couple hours (it was painful, so I'll keep this description short). You can craft a sailboat with one white banner and an oak boat in a crafting table. The wind shifts twice each day- one phase is empty, and the rest are in all the four cardinal directions. Your boat, when on water, will automatically blow in this direction when you're not in it. Apart from that, it's a normal boat.
Customization: You can customize the boat in two cool ways- by changing the boat's wood color, and by changing its sail pattern: you can even give the sail a skull-and-crossbones to give yourself some extra pirate clout. To change the boat's color, drop one wood plank of the respective color you want onto the boat; it should change immediately. Right-click on the boat with any banner pattern to change the way the sail looks. Unfortunately, you can't change the base color of the sail or the pattern.
Item Storage: You can actually store a single item by right-clicking it on the mast, then right-clicking again to remove it. Pretty nifty. Just be careful breaking the boat while there's something in storage, because it will get deleted.
WARNING: The boat cannot move with the wind when a player is in it. I know this is basically an essential feature, but Mojang hates boat mechanics, so no matter what I tried, I couldn't get an automatically moving boat. Some day, perhaps I'll be able to finally fix that....

Maybe consider subscribing? I'm actively trying to grow my Youtube channel, and I'd really be pleased if you were along for the ride. If you liked this datapack, I'd appreciate any advice on how to get better at this whole thing. A subscription would be hugely valued, and then you get notified on my new posts and releases. Besides, it's totally free!
Thanks again for looking at this datapack, and have fun sailing the high seas!

Question: Does it work on 1.20 and 1.20.1?
Suggestion: There could be also chest sailboats.
Just one question, does it work with boats with chests in the back? That would be epic.
I will download it either way, because I've been wanting something like this for a while.
Thank you!

It just moves in the camera direction and you cannot look up or down.
