Despawn Warning [v1.2]

This lightweight datapack adds the functionality to see whenever an item is about to despawn. Items naturally despawn after 6000 game ticks, which is 300 seconds or 5 minutes. See the list below for an indication when items will blink and their respective colour.

Time leftColourBlink speed
6000 ticks / 300 secondsNoneNone
900 ticks / 45 secondsGold20 ticks
300 ticks / 15 secondsRed10 ticks
100 ticks / 5 secondsDark Red5 ticks

*The video above is sped up.

- Place the folder out of the .zip file into your 'datapacks' folder of the desired world.
- Type: /datapacks list to check if the datapack is correctly installed.
- Reload your world to fully initiate the datapack with: /reload.
- Start dropping items and see them vanish with a poof and a pop!

Keep an eye out for future updates!

idk much about datapack coding, but can you make a datapack that makes dropped items (items manually dropped or dropped on death) never despawn?

how well do you think this would do on a small server with about 6 people? Do you think I would cause a ton of lag? There are a few farms but they all have very fast collection systems.

All this datapack really uses is the scoreboard/team commands and glowing nbt tag. It shouldn't cause that much lag. I can only say to try it out within the server and throw like a stack of dirt seperately on the ground and see what it does

Will this data pack create massive lag if you have too many items on the ground(resource gathering)?

history
I haven't tested it with that many items on the ground. However, the items glow from their NBT data, not through effects. No new entities are created either. It eventually comes down to your own pc and minecraft settings I suppose.

I think that Gold should be for 45 seconds, Red for 15 seconds and Dark Red for 5 seconds. But I love this data pack! It's so useful and actually pretty good done.
