Notes/FAQ
Why not combine this with the Essence Items datapack?"
-I feel that this pack makes drastic changes to the base experience of Minecraft, while Essence Items does not. Therefore, I'm keeping these packs split because some likely will not enjoy having to make their game into an RPG just to cast a few spells. Essence Items is also hilariously old and can no longer be reasonably maintained, as the current design of the channeler items now rely on the rest of the pack in order to be fun.
"How do I fight the bosses?
-Illus can be fought by obtaining the Unformed Essence custom item from an evoker or the ender dragon. The second boss is secret, and players must solve a puzzle given some clues in-game to reach it.
"How do I install the pack?"
-Download both the pack itself and the resource pack. Place the "Essence RPG" folder in your world save's "datapacks" folder, and the "Essences Resource Pack" folder in your game's "resourcepacks" folder and restart your world. Be sure to enable the resource pack!
"What tools did you use to create this?"
-Huge thanks to Thedestruc7i0n's advancements generator! Also thanks to Halbzwilling's short tutorial and resource pack found here: https://youtu.be/tvL9Z0blPC8 Custom textures were created in Paint.net. Custom models were created in Blockbench. Loot tables, predicates, and technical advancements generated with Misode's generator. Tellraw commands generated with Minecraft Tools' tellraw editor. Everything else was done by directly editing files with Notepad and/or VSCode. Github is used to collaborate with Hashs.

v1.3.2 - Sunset into Dark : by MrMcAwesumz 06/06/2022 3:04:54 pmJun 6th, 2022
===The resource pack HAS been updated with this update!===
===Current RP Version: v1.12===
===Minecraft Compatibility: 1.19===
1.3.2 Changelog:
UPDATED THE SUPPORTED GAME VERSION TO MINECRAFT 1.19!
NEW GAMEMODE: ROGUELITE
-Roguelite mode puts the pressure on! Race against the clock to defeat ERPG's unique boss encounters!
-Be careful, you lose progress for every death you experience in this mode.
-As time progresses, so does the difficulty!
WARNING: I highly recommend against enabling Roguelite mode on existing world saves! This mode is intended for newly generated worlds only.
HOW TO ENABLE ROGUELITE MODE:
-In the files, open these folders in order: Essence RPG v1.3.2 -> data -> essences -> functions -> _quick_config_start_here
-In the folder "_quick_config_start_here", there will be a file called "edit_me". Open this file with any text editor - Notepad, VSCode, Notepad++, or others all work fine!
-Follow the one-step instructions in the file, and save your change!
-For more detailed instruction: https://docs.google.com/document/d/17AUy0oNQKWa_Ph_N5lcay1CZPVCxT4YwDDooOUchmy4/edit
Mobs:
-Gave Blazes an additional ability: "Flame Snake"
-Sometimes, blazes will throw a trail of smoke which seeks players along the ground.
-Flame snakes can be killed before reaching the player, but their hitbox is small. It is recommended to use AoE attacks to deal with them.
-This attack's damage scales with the player's difficulty.
Relics:
Developer Commentary: Relics are quite an outdated idea for the pack, but that doesn't mean they can't be improved! A small suite of changes has been made to these baubles and trinkets to help some feel more competitive, and some less janky. Many item descriptions have also been updated to reveal some more of the lore behind Essence RPG, as a small reward for dedicated players. There's also a new (old) relic to find! Only a very small number of players might recognize this returning item, but regardless, its effects are different than before.
+(Reworked and re-)Added "Steelsong Brew"
-No longer provides permanent Health Boost until death.
=The new effect is still defense-oriented, but is completely different than before.
+Now self-refills, so you only have to find it once.
=Reworked "Accelerator"
=The fired arrow initially travels more slowly than a normal arrow, but now picks up extra speed every tick!
+Players will notice the item feels *much* better to use.
+Base damage increased by +20%.
+The fired arrow is now unaffected by gravity, and shots are (almost) pinpoint accurate.
-No longer has the level 3 piercing enchantment (this caused a strange bug).
=Fixed a typo
=Changed "Walkers"
+Unhid the item's enchantments.
=These enchantments are: Protection IV, Feather Falling VII, Depth Strider V.
+Feather Falling level increased to VII (was VI) for a total of 84% fall damage reduction.
=Commentary: This item in all previous versions is kind of a huge joke. Hopefully, being more clear about its effects will lead it to be taken a bit more seriously.
+Added a +12% All Damage attribute to compensate for the loss of an augmented gear slot when this item is used.
=Reworked "Hand of Formation"
=Now manually cast instead of automatically.
+Can be rapid-fired!
=Ability changed: "Meteor Slam" replaced with "Brimstone Rain"
=Magma rains down on nearby enemies, creating a powerful slowing zone where they are struck. Requires cobblestone to use.
=Bugfixed "Soul Sater"
=Now has a dedicated /loot command and tidier backend code.
=No longer dupes itself when eaten in creative mode.
=Now keeps the same item description after use.
=Quality of Life change for "Malaeus Tidebender"
=Now has a dedicated /loot command and tidier backend code.
=Commentary: Malaeus Tidebender isn't like any other relic, being a crafted one that still carries minor augmentations. As such, it's a bit impossible to create a genuine Tidebender using a /loot command. The one obtained by the new command is only an example of a possible roll on the item.
-Item description changes:
-"Illustre": provides another clue about the secret boss.
-"Graverobber": teases lore.
-"Enlightener": clarifies lore. Now also appears with its intended color.
-"Ballista": clarifies lore.
-"Mark of Purity": clarifies lore.
-"Illus's Swarmer": clarifies lore.
-"Vindicus's Swarmer": clarifies lore.
-"Defiler": clarifies lore.
-"Accelerator": clarifies lore.
-"Soul Sater": hints at the item's support usage.
-"Hand of Formation": clarifies lore, hints on how to use its new ability.
Progression:
-Rebalanced Copper Ore's EP drop distribution.
-Scavenger EP now drops at a reduced rate, and Fighter EP now drops at an increased rate.
-Overall, Scavenger still drops twice as commonly from copper ore as Fighter.
Quality of Life:
-Added an indicator for how much EP you just picked up in a small time frame.
Housekeeping:
-Decided to make better changelog files.
-Changelogs, from now on, will contain information about the current resource pack version and will also contain all prior changelogs belonging to the same major update.
-Updated the "pack.mcmeta" files to have descriptions that don't get cut off.
Technical/Compat:
-Removed hero_of_the_village vanilla loot table overrides.
-These rewards were too rare to make an impact on the game, and I'm not sure anyone even knew they existed.
-This idea may be revisited later, in a different form.
-Vanilla Loot tables that ERPG overrides are now compatible with Smithed Weld.
-Affected loot tables:
-All ore loot tables
-Fishing Junk and Treasure
-Piglin_bartering
-Newly generated "Hand of Formation" relics should no longer steal textures from other datapacks.
Misc:
-Added "Quick Config" to the file essences:_quick_config_start_here/edit_me
-This is a fast and convenient way to set recommended configuration options for the pack.
-All you need to do is change one number!
-Remember, mcfunction files are just plaintext, so you don't need a special program - Notepad works fine!
-There are currently five settings:
-0: Default/no overrides on load
-1: Singleplayer (keepInventory true, Wrist-Slapping, 3x EP, mob abilities enabled, Normal difficulty)
-2: Multiplayer (keepInventory true, Wrist-Slapping, 1x EP, mob abilities enabled, Hard difficulty)
-3: Singleplayer Roguelite (keepInventory false, Punishing, 5x EP, mob abilities enabled, Hard difficulty, PERSONAL DIFFICULTY INCREASE ENFORCEMENT, FORCED RESPEC ON DEATH)
-4: Multiplayer Roguelite (keepInventory false, Punishing, 5x EP, mob abilities enabled, Hard difficulty, GLOBAL DIFFICULTY INCREASE ENFORCEMENT)
-Fixed some outdated login tips.

This sounds like a strange issue, and unfortunately I do not know what exactly is going on, but I'm fairly confident it's a problem from somewhere other than the datapack.
Also, please note that I do not support this old version of the pack any more - it will likely never receive any updates or bug fixes.
Sorry!
The number you use for the <level> argument determines the difficulty, with 1 being Vanilla difficulty, up to 7 for Molten.
There's also a small possibility that the name of the scoreboard is just "diffselect" and not "es.diffselect" - the current development build changes the names of lots of scores, and I forget which name of this score is present in 1.3.2.
Sorry!
Pls help me
-What upgrade did you last buy before this happened?
-Are you using any augmented gear? If so, what are you using?
-Are you absolutely confident this is not caused by another datapack?
