Do you hate it when you die and your items are permenently lost?
With this data pack the wandering trader can find your items and sell them back to you!

Inspiration
I saw this idea in a video by SimplySarc and wanted to create it with datapacks!
https://youtu.be/2nF8IQci5us?t=350

Functionality
When you die and your items fall into lava, fire, the void or they despawn, there is a chance for every item of the stack-size 1 to get saved and every wandering trader can sell them back to you.
If you dont buy an item, after some time it gets overridden by new items and can not be bought anymore!
Every wandering trader can sell you up to one item, depending on how many are in the pool of found items.
Every item can only be bought once so the items should not be duplicated.

Compatibility
Althought i did not test it, this data pack should be multiplayer compatible!
This data pack should also work with other data packs that use the wandering trader
and with data packs that add custom items!

I like how everyone's chat is spammed with DEBUG from every single item that gets destroyed.

"Woah, a spam wall!"

"Something broke"

"I don't think that was supposed to happen"

What I think I remember as the reactions of my friends when I stuck this on a private SMP last year.

Wow, funny how no one has brought this to my attention in 1.5 years of this being released, the say command is inside of /data/ps_item/functions/save/main.mcfunction if you for some reason want to fix this. I won't be updating this pack anymore, it is not up to my standards now a days and i'm not even sure if it works in the newest version.
Thanks for telling me though ^^

May I use this datapack in a modpack on CurseForge, with credit to you?

Nice! Is not actually OP like other traders (can be considered op but is a feature that could have in the game, goddamn we have keepInventory) and gives a nice unique feature because the normal one usually is useful very early or rarely mid game .

He becomes a actual trader instead of a llama deliverer.
Very nice.

It should work from 1.15 to 1.17, like stated in the compatibility section.

Please tell me if it doesn't work in one version! :D

Absolutely amazing, how did you do it? I have a question: Do items that are just dropped into lava on purpose count in the pool?

Could you maybe make it customizable, so that you could control yourselves which items are counted, as I think items that are dropped into lava or fire on death should not be found by wandering traders, as that would be a bit unrealistic.

Edit: I looked into the code, it is pretty clever and solves my problem, and I think it shouldn't be too hard to make it customizable.

Thanks!

Only items lost after death can be found.
You can customize it yourself by removing the specific line from the "main" function.
