This is a quality of life datapack for builders who want to use a lot of sherds without having to hunt for more of them constantly.

The pack comes in 4 versions.

Sherd Crafting which enables you to craft sherds using traditional recipes.
Sherd Cutting which allows the stonecutter to turn bricks into sherds.
Sherd Duplication which allows you to duplicate sherds you've obtained before using bricks, similar to how armor trims work.

And the final version is all 3 of these packs put together.

If you want the first 3 you can use the alternate download from my Google Drive and navigate to the proper Minecraft version.

Or alternatively you can download the pack I uploaded here and it has all 3 in one pack. But the thing is I'm way better at making datapacks now, so you can just unzip the pack, navigate to the data folder, delete the versions you don't want, throw the unzipped folder into your datapacks folder, and it'll work. They're all totally separate from each other while all being in the same pack. Nothing like one stop shopping!

In addition, all of the recipes will unlock when you obtain a brick for the first time, making these packs easy to use.

This pack is a life saver for decorating while still being in survival and not having to run all over the world.

One question: is there a way to unlock the stonecutter only for sherds that have been found? So you have to get an original sherd once, to be able to cut it into a brick, like copying a pattern you found? A command to lock the recipe or something?

I do know a way to do it, however the method I'm thinking of would come with so many drawbacks that I wouldn't bother with it.

There might be a way to do it without the drawbacks, but I wouldn't know how to do that. Commands are outside of the scope of the type of datapacks I typically create.

Most of my datapacks don't have commands and when they do they tend to be fairly simple. I'm not really good at that aspect of datapack creation, which is why I don't have that many datapacks with commands implemented.

Well after experimenting a bit with achievements and command, I learned that it's not possible at all, because stonecutter recipe cannot be "forgotten" or "locked" behind anything. (smithing table recipe are the same)
Which is weird, but a minecraft limitation that I don't think can be overcome.

There's a game rule that can lock the player from using any recipes they don't have. Originally I thought it was an adventure mode feature, but it still has the drawback I was thinking of. Basically it locks everything and not just the pack, which is obviously less than ideal. It'd probably require several commands to get that functionality to work without locking everything else. (Though I've never looked into what commands it would require.)

Yeah that's what I tried, combined with the achievements to unlock the recipe as I picked up the sherds, but even with that command active, you can't "forget" stonecutter recipe, and the command did not lock them away.
I looked it up, it was mentioned in a bug report for mojang to look at and they closed it saying "work as intended"
https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-143214
Which just make no sense to me, but then it's mojang

thanks again for the datapack!

I don't think bricks should be turned into sherds 'cause the bricks gives a blank texture to the pot, and the the sherds (which gives a shaped texture to the pot) you should find them and not being able to craft them out of regular bricks! it makes no sense!!!

You do realize that you can just chisel or cut the pattern into the bricks right?
