This is the official thread to discuss anything relating to the Spooktober Community Event! Questions? Suggestions or discussion, all welcome here. Please make sure you read the Spooktober Community Event carefully before commenting.
The Event Summarized
Non-competitive
During the entire month of October, Planet Minecraft is hosting a Halloween-themed event. This event non-competitive. This means there is no competition, no judges, no final leaderboard and no winners. At the end of the event, each participant will receive a special participation badge.
Five entries per participant
The event allows for up to five Halloween-themed entries per participant, in the projects, skins and blogs categories. Video's, artwork and other creative creations can also be shared as a blog-post.
Rules
- The standard rules of Planet Minecraft apply to any submission.
- You are expected to enter new work. This means you cannot enter any creation that was previously uploaded to Planet Minecraft.
- You are allowed to enter work that was created for another Halloween-themed unofficial community event.
- Collaborations and teamwork are allowed for this event.
- Submissions that do not follow the Halloween theme will be disqualified.
Tips
- If you create an entry which doesn't immediately seem Halloween-themed (for example: a fairy costume skin), make sure to explain the relevance to the theme in your submission's description.
- You can create a skin, a blog-post and a project, you do not have to choose just one category.
- You have the entire month of October, so take your time and have fun!
- Don't hesitate to collaborate for this event, we would love to see some team efforts!

Question:
I made a skin that followed both the theme of the current skin contest (miners & cave dwellers) and this spooktober event. Yet I can only enter one (chosen the skin contest as my other older skins did, it won't come far or anything). Is that done intentional? Here I was thinking (as a sometimes lazy smartass) to make my skin to fit both.

Yes, it's actually a technical limitation of the contest and event system. Sorry about that! Perhaps make an alternate, with enough changes/modifications to make it not be an exact clone.

You can enter it but depending on how Halloween-y it is, the event managers might DQ if it's not relevant.

i know this is random and probably not related to anything but it won't let me customize my banner on my profile page but anyway have fun with the spooktober event and maybe check out my skins for it. it would mean the world to me honestly

so I made a skin for a contest that isn't on pmc but I upload all the skins I make there here too and I'd love to enter it in the SSpooktober event as well! Can I or is that against the rules?

Data Packs are allowed. When you go to submit your creation, check the box that says "Entry for Event: Spooktober Community Event | Read details & rules before entering."

I am about to begin work on a second spoopy short story, but instead of conjuring up my own narrative, I wanted to see if there were any special requests/suggestions from yall! So if there is anything in particular (that is, keeping within the Fall theme) that you'd like to have a 3k+ word story written about please drop your idea(s) below!! :D

Actually I was going to start taking requests for halloween costumes so then people could still celebrate halloween even though this COVID is happening....
